RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-23

dd if=your/file.mkv of=testforfritsch.mkv bs=1M count=50

Then upload it where you want - dropbox or something.

Hey fritsch and wsnipex,

Thanks for the instructions, worked like a charm!
Only the audio was not working, because the master volume was muted in alsamixer.
Maybe this could be added to the end of the instructions for people who run into the same problem?

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-24

Thanks, done.

Added it to the Audio trouble shooting section.

Hi,

here we go:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/a5ie7ea2b62zzba/2013-10-24%2009.07.36.3gp

I just recorded it with my phone.

Thx.

Edit: Here we go -> https://www.dropbox.com/s/yku21i465qs60uh/testforfritsch.mkv

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - Dradge - 2013-10-24

@pit_bull

I think fritsch wants a sample of your vc-1 file to play it on his hardware not a video of your screen recorded with your phone.

You should follow his instructions :

Quote:dd if=your/file.mkv of=testforfritsch.mkv bs=1M count=50

Then upload it where you want - dropbox or something.

@fritsch

Have you somewhere samples in many code/container I could play on my xbmc for testing ?

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-24

Yes. I need the sample.

Will be on business trip until friday, then i can link some samples.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - laric - 2013-10-24

@Dradge here is quite a few demo files that you can use

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rncnghoe7rqwgi2/LhBNzLj_jg?lst

Quite a few of them are interlaced.
If you have anymore please link them and I will add them to my dropbox

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - Claudio.Sjo - 2013-10-24

Installed todays version of xbmc, it looks like it works better with kernel 3.12.0-rc6
At least the feeling is that it behaves better with the list of files from @laric dropbox

The qvpdau test gives worst characteristics with kernel 3.12 than kernel 3.11 though.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-24

Please present numbers without xbmc running.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - P-I H - 2013-10-24

Thanks,

My installation is working perfect now. The advice to disable Adjust Refreshrate to match Video and to set Sync Playback to Display to Audio Clock, fixed my problem with audio playback in some concert, which wanted the reciever to use 24 Hz.
My reciever is a Harman Kardon AVR 355.
TV is also working after I installed Tvheadend Add-on from a zip file.

Hey,

I have installed Ubuntu with XBMC on my machine with an AMD A6-6400K CPU, but my display is flickering on and on.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - nitroboost - 2013-10-25

Just a heads up that 5.1 HDMI audio is working great for me on the 3.12-rc6-3 kernels. The slow audio that was also slowing the video has been resolved. At this point things are 100% on an A6-5400K/FM2A75M‑ITXR2 w HDMI video/audio and the high quality video scalars, staying under 20% CPU on 720p content! I notice many of the audio options are gone in the newest build, is it all just auto detected for at this point when HDMI is chosen?

Thanks much fritsch and wsnipex!
