RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-25 Use confluence. The slow audio that was also slowing the video has been resolved. At this point things are 100% on an A6-5400K/FM2A75M‑ITXR2 w HDMI video/audio and the high quality video scalars, staying under 20% CPU on 720p content! I notice many of the audio options are gone in the newest build, is it all just auto detected for at this point when HDMI is chosen? Hi, maybe it's time to upgrade my A10-5700 from AMD drivers. May you provide some more info on your configuration? 1. Distribution 2. Kernel 3. Result with 1080 videos 4. Personal feeling 5. Etc RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - RusNeuroMancer - 2013-10-25 Seems like UVD support Hi10P. This is already fixed in linux.git and will come with next release. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-25 Concerning hi10p. It is in deed true. Two fields only are to be programmed. UVD has most of it, as has the statetracker, but libvdpau needs a change to support it. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-25 Fixed Kernels for the VC-1 issue: Code: wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55728161/linux-image-3.12.0-rc6%2B_0.4_amd64.deb Please give me some feedback, if it works like expected (no regressions) I will update the front entry. A few days before 13.10 popped up. 2. 3.12-rc6 from this thread currently, only had HDMI audio issues with the 3.11 line 3. No issues, if you have any pieces of content you'd like tested I'd be happy to. The one from earlier in this thread of the Hungarian childrens group was under 30% CPU IIRC, played flawlessly 4. Had a few kinks at first related to audio and resolution, but as of right now I have no issues and am running everything over HDMI to an audio/video receiver on that kernel. 5. For some reason I have to force 1920x1080 in my xorg.conf, but that may be related to the EDID passthrough of the receiver, or an oddity with my Samsung DLP. It shows in the list of available modes from the TV, but for some reason it wouldn't display properly. At any rate after hardcoding it I have no issues. I have high quality scalers enabled, and run Lanczos3 on content that scales more than 20%, and also have glamor enabled for 2D accel all without issues and no CPU spikes to speak of. With the A10 I couldn't see you having any performance issues, bugs withstanding. Hey, just letting you know I haven't been ignoring you... I've been planning to work on a guide to post in the gentoo forums.. but I just haven't had a chance yet. To get you started, follow the oss radeon gentoo wiki. It includes the radeon.audio patch too. Test alsa to ensure your hdmi audio is working... which is a good starting point. I should be able to work on something early next week, unless someone beats me to it. I am still working on the audio clocks and the runaway with passthrough audio, the following kernel uses the same values as fglrx does, only relevant for evergreen: Code: wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55728161/linux-image-3.12.0-rc6%2B_0.7_amd64.deb https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55728161/linux-headers-3.12.0-rc6%2B_0.7_amd64.deb For me with this minimal patch, all the stuff is working as expected: http://sprunge.us/QagM RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - Snippo - 2013-10-26 What would you recommend at this moment with the new radeon drivers, AMD or Intel? I remember this by fritsch in the XvBA topic so I'm wondering if there is any major advantage of using AMD with the new radeon driver. Unfortunately I can't get the driver to work on my A4-3400 so I'm looking for some new hardware for the HTPC (the A4-3400 will serve as an upgrade for an old desktop). RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-26 Keep the A4 and follow the howto - done. No need to buy anything new. |
