RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-06

Make a screenshot of your Audio settings please, it gets curious now. And post the xbmc.log

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - deadite66 - 2013-10-06

is it worth trying the .asoundrc file from the xvba guide?

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - locomot1f - 2013-10-06

@Noopie -- i use SPDIF :/

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-06

@deadite66: We have already fixed this in the ppa - so it should not crash anymore.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - deadite66 - 2013-10-06

fritsch it was a suggestion for noopiex sound problem.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - locomot1f - 2013-10-06

i'm running -- ATI Richland [Radeon HD 8470D]

i don't see anything on the freedesktop.org website about this APU.
could it not be supported yet?

Screenshots (pardon the quality, and due to the flickering not everything is visible)

@deadite66: Already tried /etc/asound.conf

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-06

Looks all fine. No idea, broken EDID?

What does the kernel tell? After you have played some music / videos after activating the card?

@locomotif:
The 8000er series is really quite new. I am not sure what to package there, perhaps the friendly people in #radeon can help you.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - gfisher - 2013-10-06

@fritsch. I pulled out the gt610. Put xubuntu13.04-64 on a USB stick, killed compositing. So far it does all the 610 did less the adv. deint. Which I will patiently wait for. PQ is quite good. Interestingly now, YouTube has less tearing than my 610 had. Do you want to see anything on the a4 3400? I have one suggestion for the op guide. pls consider adding a note about killing that add on update checker if xbmc hangs on exit. It really locked up my setup on exit. Not sure why it is so bad on this build. Frodo rarely gave me issues exiting on this box. Great guide. Thank you.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-06

@gfisher:

Please also run qvdpautest.and disable the xbmc version check plugin, which causes the issues on exit (will hang one last time, when you exit after first disableing). Hehe, did not fully read.

Edit: It is already there.

Whoohoo I got 50 not 36fps.. 8)
Thx: - If xbmc is hanging on exit, disable the service version check addon from within xbmc! This new build rocks.

Your Audio Hardware Settings are strange. Speaker Config is set to 5.1, Output Stereo to all Speakers is active, Boost Volume is active.

Deactivate "Boost Volume" and "Output Stereo to all Speakers"

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-06

Boost Volume has no effect anymore with ActiveAE and Output Stereo to all Speakers we have fixed, either with LPCM or with AC3.

Therefore AMD users can now set everything their AVR can do :-)

I realize that, but this is the result of trying every possible config. It just won't work, and it seems I'm the only one Sad

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-06

When speaker-test works and the rest does not, then there is something wrong, e.g. a permission issue or something else.
