how is that cheaper than the NUC? I typed NUC into the amazon search box and the first three results were all significantly less. Also, that graphics card(s) is MASSIVE overkill, and would significantly up your power draw, heat, and fan noise. If you're planning on gaming as well, then maybe. For just HTPC use, don't do it.

To play everything, use an i3. Eg. D34010WYK

But I would wait for the D34010WYK to be on sale very soon - particularly if you want to use an infra red remote because it has a sensor built in. It also has better graphics.
The RRP should be cheaper than the older model.
Currently suppliers are advertising pre-orders at a high price, but just hang in there because its due imminently.

Done with the thread-jacking? Start a thread about building a big overkill PC for HTPC and I'm sure you will find plenty of people who will chime in.

If you don't understand the appeal of a NUC and why people will spend around the same amount of cash for it as on a "real PC RAWR" then you shouldn't even be in this thread.
