First HTPC - $150 for a CPU + Motherboard - roninmedia - 2013-10-23 I have a gaming PC in my room but I'm looking to have a PC sitting in my living room connected to a 60" Samsung Plasma TV. Budget: ~$350 Purchase Period: Next Month Uses: 8/10-bit anime (madVR, LAV, MPC-HC), visual novels, and possibly some less hefty Steam games Code: Memory G.Skill Value 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory 39.99 I had a spare video card so I had to select an appropriate power supply with the appropriate connectors . I chose a normal case because I don't need the aesthetics of a HTPC-style case and I do like the extra build room. I have a spare license for Windows 7 from my now dead laptop All that is left is approximately $150 to spend on a CPU + Motherboard. However, I have no clue on the AMD line of products as I haven't use one since the Athlon XP series. I live in Florida, so no Fry's/Microcenter. But I could get my sister's boyfriend who lives in Atlanta to buy products and bring it around Thanksgiving. I'd definitely want to wait for this one, should come out any day now from ECS... RE: First HTPC - $150 for a CPU + Motherboard - Dougie Fresh - 2013-10-23 As much as I too am looking forward to Bay Trail SoC motherboards, it's not going to run madVR and it has a PCIe x1 slot which won't fit that videocard (see OP). For $150 you're pretty much looking at a Pentium G3220 + microATX motherboard. I am assuming "All that is left is approximately $150 to spend on a CPU + GPU" is a typo and that you mean CPU + motherboard as in the thread title. RE: First HTPC - $150 for a CPU + Motherboard - youngt465 - 2013-10-24 Hello, is that motherboard only available on your location? It has not been released yet -- there was just a press release by ECS. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7453/ecs-reveals-bay-traild-miniitx-line |
