GT210 or another? - bass305 - 2013-10-25

Hello,

I want to buy a graphics card for XBMC setup and 1080p movies

I found the GT210 512MB $26 USD in my country

And this:

Asus HD5450 $44 USD
Asus HD6450 $52 USD
Asus GT610 $57 USD

I not need a 3D playback or 5.1 sound over HDMI (I no have a system sound) Only a fine playback of 1080p movies

My PC work fine with severals 1080p movies, Only few ones choppy

My PC specs:

Intel Celeron 3.3 Ghz
1 GB RAM
Integrated Graphics 915
Windows XP (I read is necessary change to Windows 7 for video acceleration)
XBMC Flodo

Thanks

Just go with the 5450. Since you're on XP, be sure to go to Asus's site and get the drivers for the card, do not use the CD that comes with it.

I used a GT210 for a while and it worked fine (this was under Linux though) the only reason I upgraded it was because it struggled with de-interlacing a little for LiveTV .

I still have it as a backup in case my new card breaks.

I would not pay an extra $18 for a 5450 over a GT210; both will decode 1080p just fine. Go with the cheaper option (GT210)
