The only change I made was enabling the "remote sends keyboard presses" option, but I don't know that it had anything to do with the remote working or not.

Believe me if I'd had to get into a script I'd remember.

This is what I've got in my autostart.sh

Code:
OpenELEC:~ # more /storage/.config/autostart.sh
#!/bin/sh
modprobe -r nuvoton-cir && echo "auto" | tee /sys/bus/acpi/devices/NTN0530\:00/physical_node/resources && modprobe nuvoton-cir
xrandr --output HDMI1 --set "Broadcast RGB" "Full"

The first line was required when I initially loaded Gotham based OE 4.x to get IR to work after initial boot (the 2nd line sets RGB output to "full" on HDMI port 1 to fix some white/black crush issues with my particular TV/AVR combo).

However, you are correct. I just commented it out a second time and the IR is still working. I'm pretty sure though that if I took this line out and tried to use my older Windows Media Center remote profile it would still fail. I specifically did that during troubleshooting and discovered that the remote stopped working when I took that line out.

This all makes me feel like I should just do a fresh install of OE, but have little energy for it at the moment.

Are you using an MCE profile on a Logitech remote or something? I had an Xbox remote and couldn't get the power on to work for the life of me.

Yes, I am using an MCE profile on a Logitech Harmony One. Interestingly several of these device profiles no longer work with the NUC but the "Media Center Extender" profile does.

My understanding is that the new firmware WY0027.BIO fixes some NUC power on issues (although it actually caused mine to stop working till I started using a different device profile) ... and it's possible the xbox remote now works.

It's also worth noting that back when my older profile was working, it would power the NUC up, but it would not then have IR control or power it off... that's why I had the above line in the autostart.sh, apparently OE was not setup to poll for and load the Nuvoton IR driver... I guess they've now fixed that.

Newb here. Not sure if this is the right place but I am going to build an Intel NUC and was wondering if there is anywhere that confirms that the memory module I'm looking at will work (other than posting here of course). Obviously there are a lot of variables ... Ddr3, 204 pins, 1.35v, 1600mhz, and so on ... the one I'm looking at is G.SKILL SL Series 4GB DDR3 1600MHz CL11 1.35V SODIMM (F3-1600C11S-4GSL); in particular I'm not sure if some of the other things - eg latency, or timing - matter.
tia.

Hey there

I have the haswell i3 nuc the 3040wyk or whatever,

I have it running 8.1 and xbmc works fine.

Two issues have been constant since i got it in feb.

1. when switching sources on my sharp hdtv - upon returning from the cable box source to the source the nuc is on, i get a weird snowy screen, i have to then restart the nuc to get it to show again.. ios this common and is there a fix?

Secondly i have never got the ir to work.. is there an updated guide as to how to do that with 8.1

thanks in advance

Did any of you managed / tried to use a Apple bluetooth keyboard + trackpad with the NUC? Is it by any means possible to pair those with the NUC running Openelec?

Can anyone tell me how to make my NUC boot to Kodi. And if it does can I just exit (shut down) Kodi to go back to Windows 8.1 if I need to.

Just use xbmclauncher and autologin.

I had a quick question: is the nuc able to do 24p playback + output DTS HD MA/ Dolby TrueHD without issue in Plex/XBMC now?

I am vising my parents at home where all the A/V equipment predates HDMI so I dont have the testing capability here, but I have a HDMI receiver/tv at my own place, but that's 800 miles away. I want to get another i5 NUC to take back with me when I leave but I wanted to confirm whether this is still an issue.

The first post in this thread (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php...355#pid1537355) says it is an issue, is this still accurate,

My haswell i3 nuc is doing 24p output and bitstream hd audio to an onkyo 705 receiver, running Windows 8.1,I imagine the i5 would be no different

This is in XBMC, I don't use plex
