Testing is over! Thanks for everyone who helped. Feel free to keep reporting about additional issues in new threads. XBMC v12.3 final is out now on http://xbmc.org/download/



While these are test builds for a bugfix version, they are still test builds and are not yet considered stable. Proceed with caution and always backup your userdata folder (wiki)!

What is this:
  • These are test builds for anyone who would like to help with testing the upcoming XBMC v12.3 bugfix release.
  • No new features have been added to this version.
  • Only bug fixes have gone in.
The main aim of this thread is to help make sure that no new bugs have accidentally slipped in as a result of the other bug fixes.

How to help:
  1. If something was working in v12.2 and is now broken in pre-v12.3: This is the main thing we want to know about. Please include in your post:
    • Say if this was also an issue in v12.2 or not.
    • A debug log (wiki)
    • The build date (in the download URL or in system info on XBMC)
    • Details about your system (OS, hardware specs, etc)
    • Steps needed to reproduce the issue (play a movie, go to a file list, use an add-on, etc)
    • The more details, the better.

  2. If something was broken in v12 and is now fixed in pre-v12.3: feel free to post about that. Confirmation is always nice.

  3. If something was broken in v12.0 and is still broken in pre-v12.3: please do not report it in this thread unless it's something we specifically asked to be tested. Report those bugs/issues in a new thread.

I have no audio through hdmi on a 2013 Mac Mini with normal mp3 music and sd movies with 2.0/mp3 sound
5.1/DTS/Dolby Digital movies work.
Also I do not hear the GUI sounds. I did not have this issue with 12.2 with the same settings.
(XBMC 12.3 on Mac OSX, Mac Mini with Maverick, output through HDMI to Pioneer receiver)
(Update: I do have all sound when I connect the HDMI directly to my tv so I guess it has nothing to do with XBMC but is an issue with Maverick)

I can confirm that "xbmc-20131027-9d75530-Frodo-x86_64.dmg" loads and plays fine under mavericks.

A part from the known mouse issue, here are the issues I experienced:

1. XBMC starts up in 16bit color instead of 32 when the default auto-switch GPU setting is enabled, which switches from the Intel to the nVidia GPU.
If this is disabled, it launches with the correct 32bit color setting. This is something new to 10.9, since 10.8 didn't have this issue. This is on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro.

2. The test builds aren't signed, so the firewall requests authorization every time the application is launched.
I suppose this is intentional, since these are test builds and not the final release.

How far away is ubuntu? That's the only one I have any facilities to test I'm afraid. (But am always keen to help)

EDIT: are there matching PVR packages?

Thanks for the updated build.

I have no audio in Mac OS X Mavericks, on my 2010 iMac using the default audio (in settings). I do have GUI sounds, but audio in my PVR (cmyth), and Movies / TV Shows is not working at all.

Yup, I installed it and experienced the mouse issue as well. The mouse pointer stays above the mid-line (photos, weather etc.) doesn't come down at all even to exit the app.

Just tried out the Windows d/l from the above link.

Installed over the top of my existing XBMC 12.2 install.

result = Crash on load

same after reboot of PC
Same when trying compatibility mode and/or run as administrator

OS = Windows 8.1 x64

Reinstalled 12.2 over top of 12.3 and all fine again.

Just a suspicion, but I have seen two crashlogs recently where the weather part of XBMC seemed to feature in the log just before a crash.

I had this issue once on the test build, but now I can't reproduce it and audio seems to work just fine. What are you using to playback audio? Just the internal speakers? TV speakers? HDMI receiver? Have you tried a reboot on the iMac?

At least on Mac OS X and Linux builds, there seems to be a regression on seeking video where it takes a 1-2 seconds for playback to start. Seems to happen with both back/forward steps and rewind/fast forward.

Someone compiled their own, but it looks like wsnipex has the PPA up with pre-v12.3 builds:
