Recomended temperatures - ktpires - 2014-01-05

Hi,

I'm trying to obtain a quiet htpc, i've bought several fan and a good heat pipe, now i would like to put them as slow a i can but, obviously, without damage my cpu or gpu.

Which temperatures are good as "target" in my XBMC?

When I use the equipment to play, i shutdown limitations and all fans goes 100%

Thanks in advance

That really depends on what your specific CPU and GPU are rated for.

Ok, it something like this:

CPU: Intel Core i3
RAM: G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB DDR3
FAN: Scythe BIG SHURIKEN 2 Rev B
HDD: Crucial 64 GB SSD
GPU: Nvida GT 610

no clues

What I mean is, very specific versions of intel chips, even within the i3 line, will have a temperature rating. You can then use this rating to help find what cooling needs it requires. There's actually a lot of info about this, since people like to see what processors can handle fanless cases, or to get a feel for what power requirements there might be, etc. Believe it or not, there's some fanless i3 and i5 setups out there :)

The latest core-i chips, "haswell", are very efficient on power usage and using very low temps. I would focus my search on those.

Look for your specific cpu in intel ark.

T_case is the relevant temperature. stay about 10 degrees below and you should be quite save.
