RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - Mark142 - 2014-05-30

Check out powercool k3i, q5 both are similar and are available through Amazon. I bought the k3i myself recently from Amazon UK.

64 bit.

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - ckrles01 - 2014-05-31

I ordered my asrock q1900-itx. I'll let you know how it works.

Thank you.

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - htpcero - 2014-06-02

Is anyone aware if there are mini-ITX motherboards with J2850 or J2900 (quad core, HD graphics, more cache) yet?

I've been wanting to replace my good'ol E350-based build with something a bit more modern and powerful (and with support for bit-perfect multichannel PCM audio over HDMI, which AMD doesn't support yet).

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - fritsch - 2014-06-02

Amd does support DTS-HD, Truehd and LPCM since kernel 3.13.

What Philips TV are you using?

I called Gigabyte. They said that the motherboard has a failure.
I have to send it back and I will get a new one.
This failure a matter of common knowledge. Some TVs don't
get a signal.

Thanks for your Help!

Do you have a issue/report number for this emigrante? I'm having the same issue with my MB, and am in working with Gigabyte through their eSupport system. They're trying to tell me it's a driver issue, when I know it's not. If I could provide them with an issue number for a similar problem, it may help me get this resolved.

The first Reply was that not all Baytrail CPUs support 3D.
Now i asked which of them Support it.

The second Reply:
- We recommend to check the whole System, not only the CPU, cause OEM Builders can add 3D Support to Baytrail CPUs
- The Baytrail CPUs aren't compatible with 3D by themselves, but Tray CPUs can be added 3D Feature by the OEM Builders.

Well, what they are saying that this support is rather specific and is possible depending on the manufacturer of the board (eg. ASrock, Gigabyte, MSI etc). For example ASrock somehow managed to make the J1900 support 16GB ram while other bay-trail boards only support 8 GB. Even the intel website says that J1900 supports only 8GB.

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - -DDD- - 2014-06-04

So what Mainboard does support 3D? Anyone found one?

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - lewzer - 2014-06-04

The Q1900DC-ITX has arrived on reichelt.de
However, it seems that the price is about 10 EUR higher than expected.
http://web50.reichelt.de/Motherboards-Mini-Micro-ITX/ASR-Q1900DC-ITX/3/index.html?&ACTION=3&LA=2&ARTICLE=145038&GROUPID=6130&artnr=ASR+Q1900DC-ITX
It is 95 EUR vs 67 eur Q1900-ITX
The DC version has a built in 19 DC-IN jack and can be powered by most laptop chargers so you do not need a PicoPSU or anything similar.
The only difference that I was able to notice on the DC and normal version is that the DC version does not have a s/pdif out, rest seems to be same.
I'm not sure whether the integrated DC-IN jack is worth the extra 30 EUR. If it was 85EUR then I'd say that it might be worth for certain builds.

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - zulux - 2014-06-04

The Q1900DC-ITX is indeed equipped with a s/pdif output. It is found on the internal s/pdif connector.
It also has a 9-19V DC input jack, so no need for a PICO psu or similar.

If you decide to purchase the none DC version of the Asrock, the Q1900-ITX, remember that a PICO psu, except the models for automotive use, require a stabilised 12V input (11.4-12.6V) from the power brick. It is only the 5V, 3.3V, -12V and 5Vstb that are stabilized from the PICO.

This is fine if you use the motherboard at home with a 12V powerbrick. But you cannot use it safely in a car where the voltage with running engine rise to 14-15V. (Think of the hard disk supplied with 15V!!)

The Q1900DC-ITX is more expensive so it is up to you, if you need the extra feature it has.
It is not just a DC jack, it is a fully stabilised power supply for all the needed voltages. It can be used in a boat, car or caravan on holiday etc.

I do recommend a transient filter (coil, capacitor and transient absorber or TVS diode) in the cable between the DC jack and car power outlet.

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - sub0ptimal - 2014-06-05

I tried both the ASRock Q1900-ITX and the Q1900B-ITX in a new Antec 110 ISK case.

Neither boards would post. With no fans in the case or on the motherboard, I can't tell if the problem is electrical or physical. The power LED comes on, but there is no video output (tried VGA, HDMI, DVI)

I'm stumped. After many years of builds, this is the first time I haven't been able to troubleshoot the problem. Maybe power supply in the Antec case?

Derp. The answer is that if you are using one stick of RAM, you must put it in the A1 slot. The machine will not POST with RAM in the B1 slot only.
