Any ideas?

I will probably send the mobo back and buy a AMD A8-6500T, lot more power (45 Watt TDP) but also able to do some casual gaming... no other capable onboard SoC's for sale here in the Netherlands...

It must be some configuration BIOS parameter.
I already installed Windows XP, Windows 8 and other versions of Linux with the F3 version.

Hmm but the strange thing is that it does work fine on my monitor with HDMI also in bios, what settings could it be?

Hello guys, im very interested in these motherboards aswell. What cases are you guys using?
Im looking for something small and good looking that will be placed under my TV.
Also, are there some external power supplies for these?

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - tonwes - 2014-03-17

sliddjur: The asrock Q1900DC rocks, quad core, intel Quick Synch video streaming functionality, 2x = dual channel SODIMM, and 12V DC in. Can't see any prices yet...

The 12V DC in is not nice at all if it's an upgrade to an existing HTPC with an existing ATX power supply Smile I'd rather have an ATX connector, myself Smile

Since the power enveloppe is fixed to 10W, I'm not sure to be very interested in quad core. Sure it's nice for some things, but the GPU is the same as the J1800 and all the cores will not be powered to the maximum of their ability to keep the power below 10W...

The ASUS motherboard support both atx or 12v DC power.

So atx for YOUR upgrade and 12v dc setup for MY new build. All using the the same motherboard Smile

What ASUS do you exactly mean?

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - tonwes - 2014-03-20

Trust he ment the Asrock. Don't know whether this takes DC as well as ATX, but they launched 4 boards, so one of the others will.

http://www.fanlesstech.com/2014/03/4-bay-trail-d-motherboards-from-asrock.html

Note (a.o.) the full ITX board with multiple pci-e (1x/20x) connectors and regular DDR3 ram. Would be great to convert an old mini tower standing around idle, and still be able to use multiple tuner cards etc.

Sadly no prices/availability yet.

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - Aquarius - 2014-03-20

It would still be pretty easy to ga fanless with a haswell U CPU.
Something like this:

but tailored to normal user needs, not industrial (i.e. more USBs, a good heat sink, HDMI ...). There's another one from Giada with a 4200U (15W TDP) but it's also industrial only (i.e. good luck finding a retailer for this in most parts of the world).

The Biostar J1800 motherboard is available now at Newegg.

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - tonwes - 2014-03-20

If you opt for the J1800 Gigabyte board you get SPDIF Out, an extra mini PCI and faster DDR memory access through dual channel SODIMM.

Man, this Gigabyte J1800 motherboard is a royal PITA so far.

How do these CPU compare to the Celeron 1037?

J1800 doesn't support SSE which mean no hardware decoding for videos. But then again, I'm no expert and I may be wrong.
