I just noticed this today. I wonder how this happened. Techlife maybe?

I did zero research when I picked 9080 (I figured I would pick a real number later and then promptly forgot about it). I hope the remote potato guys don't think we were targeting them!

Perhaps in the next opportunity for a client side addon release we should change it (to 9081 for example).

I wish I could take credit for that, but it wasn't me. =)

Well, anyone can edit Wikipedia, and they keep a record of every edit, so you can find out the name of the user, or their IP address, just by reviewing the history...

They didnt make an obvious edit comment regarding WMC 9080 ServerWMC etc, so searching the history page didnt show it... and I didnt have time to look at each preceding version to pick which edit added it. My wiki-fu is not much good though, so perhaps there's a way to see an annotated file showing all content at once

first thing i did was change the port to 9085 so it didn't conflict. i wouldn't worry about it tbh. plenty of services use conflicting ports around this number and so long as you can change the default its all good

RE: wiki knows we use 9080 - scarecrow420 - 2014-02-11

I guess my main driver for changing the default is that not only do we conflict with something else, but we conflict with another thing that is commonly installed alongside WMC! Smile
