VU pvr epg issue - ricardosunnie - 2014-02-19

When using the VU pvr addon my EPG is incomplete. Some channels contain epg for some broadcastings and for some not. When I check in the webinterface from my VUSolo2 the EPG information is complete.
Does the addon get its EPG data from the webinterface? If so what can be the cause of not getting all the data? Is it a timeout issue?
Got the problem with my VUSolo2 and the same with my DM800se. Using: fetch only one bouquet and all bouquets doesn't make a difference.
Running the latest PLi image and the OpenATV with openwebif: 0.2.6.

Does anyone else experience the same or have an idea what could be wrong?

Thanks!

Hi, I think i came a little closer to the source of the problem. It turns out that some channels have a part of the epg in bold text. In the webinterface from the box you can see it very clearly.
But this bold text isn't converted to the epg from the VU addon. As some channel have full bold epg I get only the broadcastings name and no epg.
Provider is Ziggo NL.
As far as I can see in the log, there are no errors about this (see: '53878:Grey's Anatomy)

RE: VU pvr epg issue - ricardosunnie - 2014-02-26

What I found is that most if not all of the providers use the "genre:" part of the epg to write part or most of the broadcasting info. The webinterface makes the genre info bold.
But the VU plugin doesn't do anything with the genre info. For all broadcastings it displays: "Genre: Other/Unknown". This is true for all the big European providers I checked (f.i. Canal Digitaal, Sky Germany, Sky UK, Sky Italy, Canal Sat france, Canal+ Spain and Ziggo).
Is it possible to map the genre info (that is never used in the plugin, and most of the time contains info about the broadcasting) to the standard epg info field, or make it an option to do that?

RE: VU pvr epg issue - jdembski - 2014-02-26

Hi,

Quote:But this bold text isn't converted to the epg from the VU addon. As some channel have full bold epg I get only the broadcastings name and no epg.

The VU webinterface sends the EPG information in two fields:

Code:
<e2eventdescription>{e2:item name=Description /}</e2eventdescription>
<e2eventdescriptionextended>{e2:item name=DescriptionExtended /}</e2eventdescriptionextended>

The addon translates this into the strPlot and strPlotOutline of an XBMC EPG event.

Code:
if (XMLUtils::GetString(pNode, "e2eventdescriptionextended", strTmp))
      entry.strPlot = strTmp;

if (XMLUtils::GetString(pNode, "e2eventdescription", strTmp))
      entry.strPlotOutline = strTmp;

Maybe this is not correct. To be honest I didn't really care because for my EPG data, those fields were identical most of (or all?) the time. That's why I did not merge both fields into one by concatenating both strings.

I'm not sure whether I understand you. I don't have any genre info in the EPG data that comes from the VU webinterface - that's why all of it is mapped to other/unknown.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

I again checked several of the earlier mentioned providers and found that they all had different (and extra) information in both fields.
Problem is that in several casses there was only information in the first field and none in the second, resulting into no epg info in XBMC.
When it's not possible to change this or make an option to choose if you want both info's merged, is it possible for the enduser to change the behaviour of this by editing some files, or does this involve compiling?

Thanks
