3H Oscars Recording not showing in XBMC but shows in Media Center - JazJon - 2014-03-03

I thought the Oscars didn't record because it didn't show up in XBMC even after I restarted XBMC. I then launched Media Center and I was releaved to find it recorded and I'm playing now as I write this. Why won't it show up in XBMC? All of my other recordings from today show up. Maybe it has something to do with it being such a large 3 Hour file?

(I would use pastebin but it complains the paste is over 500kb)

silly question - it's not under the showname "On the Red Carpet at the Oscars" is it?

otherwise can you produce a more verbose log so we can see what details are actually sent back to the client in the GetRecordings call?

stop ServerWMC

edit config xml file and set
Debug_LogRecordingsWithoutRequests = true
LogReplyMessages = true

start ServerWMC

start an XBMC client and wait for the progress bars to finish loading

Stop ServerWMC

upload the log

set modified config values back to previous values (at least the LogReplyMessages as that will cause very large logs if left on all the time)

RE: 3H Oscars Recording not showing in XBMC but shows in Media Center - JazJon - 2014-03-03

Nope, under "On the Red Carpet at the Oscars" is a recording at 1:58 PM (which is the on the red carpet) and 8:30 PM which is some partial repeat of the actual oscars.

I'd be happy to provide the verbose. Where is config.xml? Do you mean ServerWMC.exe.config or ServerWMC_Service.exe.config?

RE: 3H Oscars Recording not showing in XBMC but shows in Media Center - scarecrow420 - 2014-03-03

Neither, ServerWMC has an xml config file stored under %ProgramData%\VDSoftware\ServerWMC (by the way, this info should be in the wiki and possibly the sticky threads in the forum as well)

Hmmm, well ServerWMC shows it WAS sent to the client

Code:
2014/03/03 04:18:57.857    Received client request: HTPC|GetRecordings
...
2014/03/03 04:18:58.868    GetRecordings Reply 100/643: 10977524196599445|The Oscars|D:\Recorded TV\The Oscars_KGODT_2014_03_02_17_30_01.wtv|/||Honors for achievements in film take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles; performances by U2, Pharrell Williams, Idina Menzel, Karen O and Bette Midler; Ellen DeGeneres hosts.|KGODT/707|||1393810206|10794|1799296|NotSet|176|0|0|Recorded|107314084|5910974615568651|10133099176257607|Stereo|1393810200|Special;Awards/Event|68

The 4th field is the virtual folder path (eg the virtual grouping that groups by showname, or "Recording Now" etc). So in this case this virtual path is "/" which is the root path. Im not sure why this wouldnt be the show title of "The Oscars" but anyway this is how it's coming across so I wonder if this is at the root level and not inside a "folder" (eg show name). Perhaps if you scroll down in the list to below where all the "folders" are shown, it would then have the loose files that are in this root level? Also if you went into "All Recordings" it might be in there too? Let me know if you can find it in the list given this information...

Shows only get grouped into a virtual folder if they are part of a series (except for special cases of movies, sports, etc). So it should show up in the root. While it was recording it should have been in 'recording now' (which can be turned off). Assuming you looked for it while it was still recording, did you look in 'recording now' when you first checked? Is it still not showing up in xbmc?

To answer your question, the length of the show makes no difference.

I noticed similar thing yesterday....I had set it to record a show while I was at work to test. came home could not find it anywhere through xbmc so I figured it glitched, but then rebooted xbmc and then it showed up. like it needed to be refreshed.

Was xbmc running in windows or a non-windows client?

I tried All Recordings, and it's not there. I do see some confusing shows named 2014 Oscars & The 2014 Academy Awards that I though were it, but they both ended up being 30 minute shows like Inside Edition & Fashion police etc.

Running on an OUYA.

RE: 3H Oscars Recording not showing in XBMC but shows in Media Center - krustyreturns - 2014-03-09

Thanks @proline, I think there may be an issue with recording refreshes not happening with non-windows clients. I'll look into it.

@JazJon,
I'm confused as to the final state of this problem on your system, did the oscars never show up in xbmc? Even if you restarted xbmc? And is this running on a windows client?

Correct xbmc never showed the actual three-hour Oscars recording even after restarting everything. yes I am on Windows 8.1

RE: 3H Oscars Recording not showing in XBMC but shows in Media Center - krustyreturns - 2014-03-09

That is really curious, from looking at your log I cannot see any reason why xbmc is not displaying the file. I would have you upload the file so I could take a look but it is so damn big it would take ages to upload. Do you have any wtv tools that could truncate the file to smaller length? If not, I will try to think of what to try next.

RE: 3H Oscars Recording not showing in XBMC but shows in Media Center - scarecrow420 - 2014-03-10

can we try turning off the "Use metadata for recordings" option to see if that changes anything?

The other option could be to give him a hacked version of ServerWMC that puts everything inside a subfolder in the recording structure, rather than only series, because I reckon it has something to do with the path being "/" ie in the root level

Oh another thing to try would be to move all your recordings to another folder temporarily (that isnt in the correct path to be picked up) and thus leaving ONLY the 1 oscars file in the correct location, then see what happens (does XBMC show it, or does it show no recordings)
