I went ahead and installed XBMC for OUYA 12.3.2. Libstagefright acceleration was enabled, and I played a 1080p x264/DTS MKV. Smooth as butter, with no dropped frames. Log: http://pastebin.com/yW9PfZQb

I then played the same MKV in your latest Gotham test build. MediaCodec disables, only Libstagefright enabled. Tons of dropped frames, and completely unwatchable. Log: http://pastebin.com/fDsTvMPq

So I guess it's reasonable to say libstagefright was working better in the OUYA build, at least when it comes to Snapdragon processors.
Ok, to be investigated, then.

Note that you'd better install SPMC ( http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?8220-SPMC-Koying ). It's the same as "XBMC on OUYA" but more recent, while the ouya one got stuck on the fact that dts/ac3 decoding had to be disabled.

I ordered one the day they came out and am using a reshipping company to forward it on to me in Spain, I've signed up with reship.com especially, I hope to have it in a week or so.

I just installed the SPMC file you recommended...configuring now.

BTW, I had trouble in ADB with the referenced OUYA file download. Getting this error:

Code:
too many files specified; only takes APK file and verifier file

Windows command prompt doesn't like filenames with spaces. Rename the file and change the spaces to underscores.

Meanwhile: I tried SPMC (from link upthread)...'felt' like the same playback problems as Gotham, etc. Blank screen with audio, video/audio if you skip forward, but bad. I then tried the OUYA build and video is finally working as expected, but yes the audio is problematic (I get audio dropouts or no audio on a file that looks like it should be Dolby surround...works if I leave XMBC at analog audio).

Sorry I don't have time to provide logs or anything, but it sounds like my SPMC experience should be able to be verified by someone else soon.

EDIT: Okay, see post downthread, sounds like it's not just me.

Did you try spmc? Or beyond Xbmc or there is beyond Xbmc for ouya too
I did try SPMC 12.4.1. Results were the same as Gotham. If there's a previous version of SPMC still out there, I can try that, too.

Does DTS work?
DTS worked fine in XBMC for OUYA.
DTS also works in Gotham, but only when using MediaCodec. (Note: I'm using analog output setting, downmixing to 2.0, as this is connected to my bedroom TV).

I did try SPMC 12.4.1 and it had the same issue (lots of dropped frames) as Gotham when using libstagefright. Do you have an older SPMC I can test? Maybe we can figure out what build the change originated in.

RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Netix - 2014-04-05

Anyone could give me the package dimensions & weights so I could estimate the shipping cost to Canada with reship.com ?

RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - finalheaven - 2014-04-05

Might be a dumb question, but is there a chance xbmc can be just downloaded/installed through amazon store? Like Plex? Or will sideloading be the only option?

Very unlikely that this would happen. As observed through OUYA's attempt to distribute XBMC through its official store, doing so would require that whoever is distributing it foot the DTS and DD licensing fees. OUYA's response was to simply remove DD/DTS support, but I don't think Amazon would even want to deal with it.

I can also confirm that: XBMC for OUYA 12.3.2 is working really smoothly for me.

I am going to try stepping through these spmc versions now.

Thanks for all the effort!

I'm sure I speak for many here by saying a special thanks to Koying for all his work to get this working properly. Especially considering he said earlier that he doesn't even intend to get a Fire TV anytime soon or perhaps ever in Belgium. The dedication is truly first class.

Are you guys able to run the Aeon Nox skin smoothly?

Maybe we can all put 5$ and send one to Belgium !

RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - joeyf - 2014-04-05

Perhaps not very helpful...I'm really interested in getting MLB.tv going on this box in advance of the formal release that is supposedly coming soon for FTV (according to MLB.tv website)

Anyhow for those who care, MLB.tv addon confirmed working on SPMC 12.4.1! However, I had to disable libstagefright as as I experienced either video or complete app lockup. Didn't see any expert settings to try anything else. At the very least I can watch baseball today. I'll keep trying some of these other builds this afternoon as Sox don't play until tonight Big Grin
