Crash from new build as soon as I try to play. The background menu fades as if it's going to load and then it drops back to the fire launcher.

Software multi-threaded still works fine.

Btw I noticed you said leave mediacodec on, but was I supposed to turn off libstagefright?
Right, thanks.
Updated build: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/android/arm/xbmc-20140406-029f083-fixamcoutput-armeabi-v7a.apk

If mediacodec is ON, it's picked up whatever the value of libstagefright...

Out of the box: gray/blank screen for a second, then full application crash back to Fire launcher. PMing you a log. I tried multiple file types.

The Microsoft usb ir remote/receiver does not work Sad
(Bummed by this. I've used this remote for years.)

This MCE IR usb works with the Fire TV. $12 and you have IR.

Oh god. I have a huge, ugly old MCE receiver somewhere. I can't do this to myself, the thing's practically as big as the Fire. Smile (To be fair, the receiver linked looks newer and less ugly.)

Lastest test build attempting to play test video from wiki page. When attempting to play video xbmc closes / crashes and sends me to fire tv's settings screen.

Same here.

RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Koying - 2014-04-06

Please send the "old" log if it's crashing. By default, the current one is sent, which doesn't show anything...

Ah yes, sorry about that.

RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - KrakaJap - 2014-04-06

It's been a while since I've used xbmc but when amazon (or root) adds the ability to use external storage, is it possible to offset xbmc's storage of artwork and such to external? I've noticed the ~5gb of usable internal storage runs out very quickly and you get that annoying popup warning about capacity.

RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - thess - 2014-04-06

My old, probably first gen MCE IR USB receiver does not work. I connected it and power cycled the Fire for good measure. The receiver is obviously receiving the commands (it blinks when it does), but neither the Fire nor XBMC care about them. (This isn't exactly a tragedy, but it could explain why there are conflicting reports. Maybe older models don't work.)

LOL, I just remembered I had one tucked away in the closet. Is the receiver on the one you tried labeled with a model #OVU400002/00 on the bottom?

Edit: NVM, dug up some batteries - doesn't work.

my first gen doesn't work either
the one in the linked post (updated model) works.

RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - RGB_Gamer - 2014-04-06

Has anyone tried Autostart app for Android to auto load XBMC on boot up instead of side loading XBMC?

You can redirect folders with advancedsettings.xml. You can even redirect to a network share. So if external storage is ever possible, you should be able to redirect to there, too.

mce receivers never worked in android as far as I know. Flirc does though.

Good point. My .xbmc dir on my openelec pc is 2gb. /data on the firetv shows 5gb with 2gb free, so things could get tight.

As far as root goes, I was not able to get cydia impactor to work for root. It says that no signature bugs are found. A logcat detects activity when a usb drive is connected to a hub, but idk if root can make use of it.
