Remake of my currenct media center - Morrtin - 2014-04-08 Dear Community, Long time ago I installed my media center with a lot of help from this forum. Since then my system works perfect. Now has Gotham is around I would like to make a new installation. I can find my way around but it would be nice to point me into the right direction. My media center is running on an Intel platform (Intel Core i3-2105, 2x 3.10GHz, HD Graphics 3000, 8 GB RAM) and I have installed Ubuntu Server 13.10 with kernel 3.11.10.6 and firmware 1.126. XBMC itself is running as a service and I installed it via my own script which I customized from this forum posts http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=141369 and http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116996 My question are: 1) Would you suggest to upgrade my hardware from sandy bridge to Ivy Bridge? 2) Can I switch from saucy to trusty and is it a good idea? 3) Are these the right posts to start getting into the topic again and be able to update my installation script: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=165707 http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=189241 If it is necessary I can provide a detailed hardware list and here is the link to my script if someone like to take a closer look. Thanks for your help or suggestions. |
