Drobo 5N movies stop after 5 minutes - wijo - 2014-05-11
I have a Drobo 5N and XBMC on Xtreamer Multi Console.
I've got my 1080p movies on the Drobo and added them on to XBMC. I tried playing them and it plays but it stops after 2-5 minutes with no error message.
I tried accessing my other NAS (WD) from the xbmc and the movies play with no issues at all.
Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Try replacing DROBO5N with the static IP address of the NAS (e.g. smb://10.0.1.10/Public/1080p/...).

How do I do that exactly?
I tried changing the name of my Drobo on the Drobo Dashboard but it won't allow dots. Only alphanumeric, dash and underscore characters are allowed.

The drobo has an IP address on your network.
Use that in the address of your SMB share on xbmc.

In the Drobo NAS manager make sure that the IP address is set for static and not DHCP. Pick a static IP address that is unique on your network. In the XBMC client, specify the static IP address in place of where you used 'DROBO5N'. XBMC will work best when you specify a static IP address to your NAS. If you reboot your NAS the static IP address to the NAS will always be the same whereas with DHCP the NAS IP address is determine when the NAS boots and may not be the same IP address as it was before the NAS was rebooted.

Thanks winestock.
I do have my Drobo on static IP. My problem was trying to edit the name of the source on xbmc like you said. I tried on xbmc but I just couldn't do it with the airmouse, no keyboard pops up. Thanks to the iPhone xbmc remote app, I was able to do it.
Now playing a few movies and checking if everything will run smoothly.

Oh well... My happiness was fleeting... The first movie I played played continuously but the next ones stops like before, though at a later stage...

The debug log does not show any instance of a video or movie having been played. Make that the you start the debug logging before you start playing any videos.

The first time movie stopped at 26:00 the next at 19:12

On the previous one the movie just stopped but xbmc stayed on.
On this one now, the movie stopped after about a minute and the xbmc app closed.
