RaspberryPI as both front-end and back-end - boghison - 2014-05-18

Hi,
I've got a Raspberry PI set up and I want to use the PVR functionality, but I don't wanna have another computer as a back-end server. Would it be possible to connect the TV Tuner directly to the RPi's USB port and use it with some add-on?

You'll probably need a powered USB hub, other than that it should work fine as long as you're only watching FTA channels.

The USB isn't a problem. But what software/addon do I need? Even if there is such software will it show in the system live TV, I mean will it work the same as any other PVR client?

OpenELEC supports TVHeadend as backend. Installs from Openelec repo, and is then setup using a (remote) web browser.

So I can install TVHeadend and another pvr client?

Yes, there are tons of information available, e.g. on the wiki.
