Hi,
I'm considering this NAS and I have 1000M wired network to my HTPC. I'd like to ask whether DS214 is powerful enough to host centralized MySQL database for XBMC setup (with 2-3 clients)?
Any one could share some experience with the box? Thank you!

Lots of people here are running Synology boxes as their NAS for storage of local content. I don't know anyone who is using it to run MySQL but the demands of a small database with 2-3 clients is quite low so I would imagine that performance wise it would not be a problem. I have 5 Boxee/XBMC boxes in the house and have not felt the need to centralize the database. Updating each client at start up is really not that big of a deal (to me)... plus when you run centralized with SQL every box MUST be on the same version of software or you risk corruption of the database...
