Watching movies on Sony Bravia - swim - 2014-06-21

Apologies - but I can't find an answer to this topic anywhere.

I have a Sony Bravia and a Sony DVD player, the latter which has ethernet to my PC. I have started xbmc on the PC and have movies in my library but I cannot see how to connect to them from either the TV or the DVD player. How do you actually stream the movies, via xbmc to the tv?

or am I not understanding what this application is for?

XBMC is meant to be ran on small PCs connected directly to the TV using an HDMI cable. XBMC running on an HTPC becomes your new "box", like a DVD player, and lives with the TV, with an interface that can be controlled from a normal remote.

Ok thanks. I basically know what you've posted. What I want is a set of diagrams or step by step instructions to help me please. Can anyone point me to that please?

Ned, reading your post again you say "... ran on small PCs connected directly to the TV using an HDMI cable.'' Are you saying that because I have my PC connected to the TV with a 15m ethernet cable then xbmc will not work?

Yes. The TV is basically a computer monitor in this setup.
