[SOLVED]white nois with HRT music streamer II s/pdif output - orduek - 2014-06-24
Hi,
I use XBMCbuntu 13.
I recently bought HRT Music streamer II and plugged it to usb 2.0 input in my Haswell based MB.
I can listen to music If I set music streamer as analog. But if I set it to s/pdif I get very loud white noise.
I attach aplay -L

RE: white nois with HRT music streamer II s/pdif output - orduek - 2014-06-25
I just want to add that I'm looking for a bit perfect audio. If I set music streamer to s/pdif and run a flac file I get the correct bitrate but can't hear the sound. If I set it to analog I get 48000, which is re-sampling.
I know that in previous versions of xbmc I could have set a custom output and in Gotham this option is unavailable.
RE: white nois with HRT music streamer II s/pdif output - orduek - 2014-06-25
Another info.
I installed MPD and was able to listen to bit perfect audio with the same computer and OS. Only problem in MPD is that I can't control the volume (only through the amplifier).
Maybe I should use an external player?

How about screenshots of your audio setup page in xbmc and also a debug log of playing a file?
RE: white nois with HRT music streamer II s/pdif output - orduek - 2014-06-26
Attached screenshot (although I tried many other definitions).
Attached my log file (I run for 10s the music file at around 21:16)

Thank you very much.

I also attach my mpd.conf file. Maybe it will help to see what audio settings do work.

anyone?
RE: white nois with HRT music streamer II s/pdif output - orduek - 2014-10-07
Well,
The issue is solved.
I think that what solved the issue was deleting ~/.xbmc and purging + reinstalling xbmc.
I write here the sequence as it might help someone in the future:
1. purge xbmc
2. rm -r ~/.xbmc
3. reboot
4. install xbmc

As Audiophilist, please take part in my survey: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=204019&pid=1793232#pid1793232
Here audiophile users can say which is the best resampler by doing a blind test and comparing with the original.
