subscribed to sky but want to run through xbmc - benpower85 - 2014-07-23

Hi all,

I was wondering if I could get some help...?

I am currently a sky world UK subscriber (and will continue to be) and I was wondering how I could go about getting all of my sky channels (Sports, Movies, general TV not available on Free-to-air) to run through my XBMC? I have looked in to various CAMs to put my viewing card in but have read that some cards don't work in certain readers and don't want to spend money on hardware that won't work. Also I have seen that there are some emulators out there that do the same thing but I enter my card and box numbers where necessary. I can find them on the channel scan but they are all scrambled, but as I am paying for the service I wondered if I could use it on my computer?

Ideally I would just like all of my media and TV in one place instead of having to switch between TV and computer to play them, it's very confusing for the wife...

I am currently using Ubuntu 14.04 and XBMC 13.1 as well as an ATV2 upstairs also running XBMC 13.1.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Its possible, Im doing it but you cant really talk about it here. You should get a card reader, your sky box is still needed for entitlements on your card. HD Channels wont work anymore with the exception of a few. SD channels are fine.
