Hi,
I own a Tronsmart S89H and I am using XBMC 14 nightly and I notice that every time that I start a movie it shows a black rectangle with the size of the top menu but if I change the video format from normal to zoom and then back to normal the black bar goes away.
It happens with any Skin!
Did anyone notice this before?

In Confluence also? Apparently, all 3rd party skins are broken in Helix nightly.
Is there a specific reason you're using nightly rather than Gotham?

I tried all of them, Confluence and others too.
I am using nightly because I was hoping that the bug was fixed. I tried Gotham too. I am going to try a different ROM and hopefully it fixes. http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?15111-Beelink-S82-Tronsmart-S89-S89H-VissonTech-S82-firmware

Doesn't matter if is 13.1 or 14 alpha the issue is there

I am having the same problem.
I have 2 win7 boxes and 2 Android boxes each running Gotham 13.1
These bars (top and bottom) only appear in the Android boxes. And in all skins I try.
I have tried all settings with no luck. The only difference I see is win7 version shows
Full Screen #1 and 1920x1080P on the first 2 lines of the System/Video Output settings page.
Android version shows Windowed and 1920x1080P and both are greyed out.

I found the problem on the Android boxes.
The problem is from the video setup between Android and XBMC.
To fix: In android "settings/display/display position" my setting was at 86%.
I increased to 88%. (Yours may only need increasing 1%)
Now in XBMC "settings/system/video/calibration" Calibrate as you normally would.
All videos fullscreen and letterbox should be normal without top and bottom black bars overlaying video.
I hope this helps....it was driving me crazy
