Smart TV - MrCvG - 2014-08-23

Hi, did this Fantastic Team think, that will be possible on the future, to install the XBMC Media Center on a Smart TVHuh

RE: Smart TV - Starstream - 2014-08-23

No is the short answer, smart TV's are not a unified platform most vendors each have their own unique take and they are often locked down with restrictions preventing running third party software. The apps they allow via their app portals are often very basic and the TV vendors have a nasty habit of dropping support for their own platforms very quickly.

The one future platform it might be possible to run on is Google's official AndroidTV due end of this year or it may roll into 2015. Their are TV sets going to be using AndroidTV for example Philips & Hisense will be using it and maybe a few others. But that's no guarantee and you might not be able to buy an AndroidTV television in your part of the world.

Official AndroidTV is not to be confused with the unofficial Android boxes you can buy now.

There are some LG brand Google TVs that apparently run xbmc android, but don't do it very well.
