How do you include alternate themes in a skin? - wyrm - 2014-10-14

I am trying to confirm something that I'm sure I saw mentioned in a post on the forums dealing with including alternate themes with a skin submitted to the main XBMC/Kodi repo. I have searched thru the forums looking for the post with no luck, but from memory alternate themes where handled like this:
  • Include a Theme directory in the skins root directory.
  • Inside the Theme directory create a sub directory with the same name that you want to call the alternate theme.
  • Copy the required graphics files (and any sub directories required) to this directory.
  • When the skin is processed by the repo guardians, anything in the Theme directory is processed by themepacker and the resulting .xbt file is added to the Media directory of the skin.

Is this basically correct, or have I got it completely wrong?

Correct, but the folder on the skin root should be called themes

Thanks DJCisco,

so is that "Themes" or "themes"? Just want to make sure I've got it correct as I will put this in the wiki when I have all of the details correct.

Ronie,

I have been adding a couple of ToDo's into the skinning Manual as I leave this window open on my browser while skin coding to remind me of any bits of skinning I feel unsure about. I am finding there would appear to be a number of missing bits of info, so I try to fill the holes as I find them.

As a side note, while I have stumbled across the page you mentioned in the past, it probably could stand to be made a little more prominent and reachable from either this page or this page.
