XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - rahnlys - 2014-10-14 Hi Guys, I am a new XBMCbuntu user, having transferred over from a Windows 7 installation, I have got my system running just about the way I want it TV card installed, backend setup, frontend working! However there are a couple of material problems I am hoping you will be able to assist me with: 1. There is no digital sound output through SPDIF. I have not been able to get any sound from my amp at all. I have tried a range of things including installing Pulse Audio (however the Synaptic Package Manager does not have the back end available so I stopped there). Note that I do not get any sound when playing media in the desktop or XBMC. 2. The video output through HDMI over scans. I have found a fix to this using "xrandr --output HDMI1 --set audio force-dvi --mode 1280x720" in terminal view. It fixes the problem for all resolutions until the box is reset. I would ideally like to set this up so it occurs every time on start up. I have read up about xorg.config however I do not believe it is not used XBMCbuntu and have not been able to configure Nvidia X server - the Nvidia application does not have any monitor specific controls in the interface. I am using a Gigabite Brix i3, I have not made any changes to the hardware with the exception of installing RAM and a hard drive. I have installed the latest XBMCBuntu - Gotham (OS). http://www.mwave.com.au/product/gigabyte-brix-gbbxi34010-barebone-kit-core-i3-4th-gen-ab52251 HDMI connection to a projector (no overscan changes available - Dell MP5100) SPDIF connection to a Denon 3803 7.1 channel amp that accepts Dolby 7.1 and DTS-ES Media is on a NAS Any help is appreciated - let me know if there is anything else that would assist. I have been tying myself in knots for a couple of days now. Thanks. RE: XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - fritsch - 2014-10-14 Post a Debug Log - we cannot see what software / audio sound server / etc. you are running. For the overscan issue, use your TV Remote and set your TV to "Just Scan" or "Fixed". You have an intel card. There is no nvidia chip in this box. RE: XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - fritsch - 2014-10-14 Quote:SPDIF connection to a Denon 3803 7.1 channel amp that accepts Dolby 7.1 and DTS-ES SPDIF can only carry 2 pcm channels. Therefore only Dolby AC3 and Dolby DTS will work as they are virtual formats. No HD passthrough will work. I don't see the SPDIF output on your Brix - does it even have one? RE: XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - rahnlys - 2014-10-14 Hi, Below is the link to the debug log http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=318430 Yes the Brix has SPDIF output - see this link http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4859#ov There is no option on my projector to "just scan" or "fix". RE: XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - fritsch - 2014-10-14 Ah that little adapter plugged into the front. RE: XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - rahnlys - 2014-10-15 Hi, Here is the xbmc log http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=319259 . I will reboot and provide the display in a sec. Thank you again for your assistance. Are you sure it is not muted or in passthrough case - the AVR on the wrong channel? Try alsamixer -c X (where X is your card number) ... Btw. your weather script spams the whole main thread. From xbmc side everything looks fine. RE: XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - rahnlys - 2014-10-15 Here is the video log http://paste.ubuntu.com/8563510/ RE: XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - fritsch - 2014-10-15 Quote: <mode id="0x48" name="1920x1080i" w="1920" h="1080" hz="30.00000" current="true" preferred="true"/> Those are the issues. You need an xorg.conf that adds the 720p modelines. So that the Xserver picks them up at first. Wondering as there are other 1080p60 modelines too. Next time try: DISPLAY=:0 /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc-xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 0xac RE: XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - rahnlys - 2014-10-15 Hi, I have looked at ALSA mixer and checked all of the settings - all channels are on and the amp is set to the correct outputs. I have checked with another device. I am not getting any sound from the linux box at all. got a 2.5mm mono jack to RCA cable that is new. Just tried DISPLAY=:0 /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc-xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 0xac no impact to the picture still overscaning. RE: XBMCbuntu - SPDIF & Screen resoultion - rahnlys - 2014-11-07 Finally fixed this - was the physical plug that was the issue. Monitor issue still persistent. Not an issue when you boot into XBMC directly. Thanks for your help. |
