[FireTV] Problem playing file. Is there a list of file specs that FirETV works? - Sam Lowry - 2014-10-22 So far I've been very successful playing most files on my FireTV. But recently I tried a file with the following specs. It would play slow and skip frames, but audio would continue without issue. Is there a list I can check to see why this file wouldn't work? Code: Format : Matroska RE: [FireTV] Problem playing file. There's nothing special with the file (H.264 L4.1 5.7 Mbps, DTS 5.1). I have tried 1080p files with fairly high bit rates and TrueHD/DTS MA tracks (passthrough to my receiver) and they play fiine. Exception for the file is perhaps the number of reference frames (= 12), which is AFAIK not compliant with what you typically see for Bluray (rips). Normally four is used. 12 frames costs more memory for the decoder. However, I can't imagine the FireTV with ample memory should have problems with it. I think Mediacodec can cause choppy playback. |
