I have configured nextPVR to work with my Ceton device and it works fine in nextPVR..
I've set up Kodi to use the nextPVR backend
I can see the populated EGP and Channels but, when I try to watch something in channels, I only get :Buffering...0% 00:00 and that's as far as it goes.

Unfortunately all bets are off when using a Ceton tuner, since this isn't supported directly by NextPVR. I suspect the recorder plugin doesn't behave enough like the built in capture device support for it to work.

This is a bug in Helix. The only way I was able to resolve it was to revert back to Gotham. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=214096

RESOLVED!!!
As HeadLearning suggested I downgraded to a Gotham version of Kodi.
I installed a bare bones Kodi on another machine and... it worked!!
It turns out the issue wasn't with the version of Kodi but with the skin (Metropolis) I was using.
Tested on Kodi Helix with the default Confluence skin and it works great!

I've heard that switching back to Confluence can resolve the issue but this doesn't seem to be the case for me. Glad you were able to fix it. I'm still stuck at Buffering 0%.

Have u tried enabling "Enable Timeshift with LiveTV" ?
System > addons > enabled addons > pvr clients > next pvr > advanced
Worked for me, very rarely tho, it gets stuck buffering, pressing stop n play sorts it in seconds.

i think in helix they solved the buffering problem so no changes are needed... so do factory reset.

I updated my NextPVR Server to 3.4.8 and suddenly some channels (2 out of 41) don't play and hang on buffering witth 0%.
Playing the channels directly in NextPVR on the Server or with VLC Player works fine.
Tested it with Helix and Isengard and it's the same. Using the default skin on all devices.
Downgrading to NPVR 3.3.8 did not resolve the problem. (Don't know if it was related to the upgrading process...)
Did a clean install of Kodi Helix and a fresh install of NextPVR 3.4.8 => No change...
With a clean install of 3.3.8 it's working again!
Maybe logfiles can help?

This is a bug in either Kodi or next PVR but I'm not sure which. So far the only workaround I've discovered is to downgrade to Gotham 13.2 -- all of my systems have to run this version. Every other version doesn't work with NextPVR. You can find archived versions on the Kodi downloads site.

Yes, but it's working with NextPVR 3.3.8 (after a clean install), so I think it's related to NextPVR 3.4.8.
Well, I reverted back to 3.3.8 and no it's working fine and I am not missing any features added in 3.4.8, so I can live with that, just wanted to report this here.

I have setup NextPVR, and Kodi with NextPVR addon. NextPVR seemed to work 100% as designed. However, when I played Kodi TV using NextPVR as a backend, there were three channels that always seemed to hang with 0% buffering. The three channels are NBC SD, HLN HD and NBC HD. Although I only tested about 100 channels out of the 300+ channels on each of the two HDHomerun Prime with a total of six tuners receiving signals from Comcast. I tried different versions of Kodi (from 14.2 to 15 Beta) and NextPVR 3.3.8 and 3.4.8. I also tried different settings like decoder types and timeout seconds when playback, etc. After trying for a couple of hours, NBC HD seems to play consistently, but HLN HD and NBC SD only played a couple of times out of the many tries in several hours. I did not think I made any difference by any of my changes, but I just do not know what finally made NBC HD play consistently. I extracted from the log several lines which I think is relevant to the failure of playing NBC SD with 0% buffering hang-up.

Same message with "failed to get stream" was logged when HLN HD failed to play. Does anybody have any suggestion as to what I should look for remedy. Two non-playable channels out of a few hundred channels are not critical, but I would like to be able to find out what caused this. Thank you in advance.

NBC SD for some reasons can be played now, but HLN HD still cannot be played, i.e. hanging at 0% buffering with a message in the log that indicated a failure to get stream. However, Fox SD which could be played yesterday with no problem has the same problem as HLN HD today.
All these channels can be played in windows media center and HDHomerun View without any problem. HDHomerun Kodi addon played HLN HD but only played Fox SD with video but no sound.
