Can anyone provide any info on how good (problemfree) the streaming from the DM500-T really is?
I read about lots of ppl saying it works great but even more ppl complaining that it doesn't work as it should (sometimes no picture, gets stuck on buffering, pixelated picture and so on). Even the site that sells streamts says that it still can hapen but not as often...
The question here is if the ppl that claims it works fine doesn't mind minor problems or if they just use the right setup or if they're just lucky?
I have 2 TV's with one xbox each. I was thinking of buying a DM500-T and just connect it in my network and not any of my TV's and then stream to the xboxes (i understand that both at the same time will probably not work) and record TV to my HTPC. Can i expect this to work ok?

i must say i'm a complete dreambox newbie, but anyway here's my experience (with a dm500c):

after patching streamts, the artifacts are more or less gone, quality is okay.
xbmc's tuxbox client is working pretty ok for me too, however there are some things that i don't know if they're known bugs or (yet) missing features:
i didnt found out yet how to zap from channel to channel without going back to the menu
each stream needs to be set to deinterlace each time manually (isn't there an option to always deinterlace on tuxbox streams?)
very often, i have "cannot zap to channel xyz". the second, 3rd or 4th time it normally works then.
couldnt find out how to switch the audio channel

i must add that i didnt spent hours or these issues yet. maybe some quick comments from other ppl or GeminiServer would help?

recording stuff on pc is working pretty well, tried streamview and the results are good. in my case there are still some not too disturbing artifacts, but that can also be due to my crappy 5m antenna cable to the dreambox. i don't have it connected to a tv, so i can't check if they are on the scart output too (which would mean it's not streamts' fault).

1. zapping is not possible yet. not sure how far gemini is with the new features though
2. deinterlace gives a bad result I think. I use bob which looks the best in my opinion. however for dvd's etc I use auto/none. So yes there should be a setting for tuxbox so you wouldn't have to jump back and furth
3. I have the "cannot zap" problem too
4. in AdvancedSettings.xml you can set up some advanced features, however the audio menu does not work for me. Not sure if it's incomplete or what's going on

I'm very greatful for your input.
Was a bit afraid of this. From what i can find on different dreambox forums this seems to be common problems so i highly doubt that this is xbox-related. I'll probably wait until DM600T is available and see if it works any better (should have more ram but same cpu). Hopefully the tuxboxclient will have some more nice features then as well. It doesn't sound like it's completly gf-friendly yet =)

If I understood correctely in the Tuxbox Board you were missing the XML EPG option.

Saw a post on another forum (dreamboxx.nu) from a guy who got hold of a 600C. Seems changing channel and streaming worked fine. Recording to PC gave artifacts.

Nobody knows if subtitles works or not?

Ok, how about trying a few times before failing perhaps with a small sleep in between if needed.
Maybe the devs of Gemini project can fix this if you explain to them what is wrong. That would probably be better Wink

What type of DB do you have?
I have just started to use a DM500c, and have problems with artifacts when streaming to my xbox with the TuxBox client, the same when recording to HDD.
I have tried Gemini 3.5 (who by the way is labeled streamts_fix in the name), but I see even moore artifacts on my xbox with it.
Is it someone else here that use a DM500 that can confirm worse quality using Gemini 3.5 and TuxBox client?

a user I know is working on something simular to enable the Dbox2 Neutrino to have external EPG on for example 28.2 (Sl<yUK)

FreddyFrog wrote a Perl & Windows application for this to suit the Dboxes bouquets.xml and services.xml as Neutrino needs the channel desccriptor being formed out of the tsid onid and something else I can't just remember ;-)
