hmm... I have DreamBox 7025+ (Gemini2) and I have to use my own constructed .strm files on XBox. works like a charm, I select TV channel directly from favourites.

- s88xj - 2008-02-22

what does the .strm file do? is that just for favorites or is it something you had to do just to get it to work?

I understand the 7xxx dreamboxes work MUCH better (especially over the network) than this DM500 I have.

I'm afraid that's going to be the ultimate answer for me, that I'll need to upgrade.

Unfortunately the DM600s are pricey and hard to get these days.

this page gives a little info on STRM files:
http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/?title=HOW-TO:_Play_Internet_Streams
Basically they just pass a given URL to XBMC, which then tries to open and decode the media at the given address.

the 500 has a know hardware issue regarding Streaing

Neutrino Images are supposed to be a bit better

Try turning off playback on TV whilst streaming to the xbox

@GeminiServer, I don't know if your up to date with the tuxbox cvs modified streamts implementation by snakehand (streamfix). But since this change xbmc cannot stream properly anymore (artifacts and distorted sound). Please could you maybe optimize your code for the new snakehand fix if at all possible. I'd be thankfull. Here's a little more info

zapstream - Sjaaky - 2008-03-04

The Pli Iolite image contains an additional streaming method called zapstream. You can use it directly by connecting to port 31344, so entire url becomes something like http://dreambox:31344.

Zapstream will automatically stream the current channel. No need to specify vpid and apid in the url. Zapstream will keep up with channel changes. Well, that is if you use vlc as client, I don't know about xbox clients.

The dm500 is known for its streaming problems. With zapstream streaming should be (nearly) perfect. But some models need a capacitor-mod to get appropriate network performance.

capacitor mod, ay?

I'll have to search how to do that...

Use dreambox tv script ver 0.39 - map_se - 2008-03-05

Use dreambox tv script to stream to your xbox
it is availible on xbmc scripts
I use it and it works fine

Which Dreambox model and image are you running?

I have a DM500 with Pli Iolite and the dreambox tv script didn't work.

I have a feeling it is not going to be compatible with Iolite.

Can anyone point me in a direction of a dm500c image that works with the client - I've set it up. but encountered the 'zap to' problem, which I think is to do with newer images using zapto, not streamts.

So does anyone know and older image which will work (and in the UK)

TIA, tom

where does the file reside on the xbox?, is there a tut how to set this up

i have a dm7000 gemini 3.30, not sure on XBMC version.

Tuxbox - Crocodile - 2008-05-17

Tuxbox client is not working for me either. I can browse the channels but when I click on a channel it just say "Opening stream" and then sits there. Apperently it does not change the channel on the dreambox and no feed comes from it. After a while an error screen appears saying:
Error
Playlist playback aborted
Too many consecutive failed attempts

You might want to paste a log to pastebin and link it here.

I have the same problem. I can browse the channels in the video playlist, but whenever I click on a channel, I get the "too many consecutive failed items" error. Debug Log is here. Build 12908.
