Just follow these steps...

Some people even had problems doing it like that.. Thats why I have my current build available for download.. And it's usually updated at least once a day..

Msan Wrote:Well, I'd rather have more then 5, but I'll take as much as I can.. On some Video files, I run out of memory when trying to open them.. on those, 1 or 2MB of memory can make the difference of beeing able to play them.

What kind of video files will benefit from 2 MB more memory? Are you using 1080i desktop?

I'm using 720P desktop. I can barely play some Xvid encoded 720Re HDRip files (usually a 4.3 GB file) and don't upscale to 1080i. For other Xvid files below 720Re (540Re 700 MB TV episodes or 1.4 GB movies), enough memory for XBMC to upscale to 1080i. And even some H.264 encoded 480P Apple HD movie trailers play ok. Strange thing is I found no x.264 files even at 480Re play smoothly. They suppose to use lessn CPU than H.264 Apple trailers.

I'm interested in your experiences. Thanks.

It's really surprising how few Xbox PC tools support other OS's considering how well XBMC itself does. Thank god for Transmit on the Mac for putting things on the Xbox and SharePoints for setting up SMB shares or I'd be crazy by now.

Keep up the good work Msan.

Forgot about the mac users... good on those who do make builds available.

Some folks run a Virtual environment:

Windows
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx

Mac
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/virtualpc/virtualpc.aspx

Keep in mind that MS Virtual environment do not offer full Direct 3D support; that said, if your compiling skins from the SVN ... it shouldn't be a problem.

I fount out Clearity uses the most memory among all the skins I use. Blackbolt's Classic & MC360, plus PM III, all use 5 - 6 MB less memory.

Clearity IS the smallest on file size though.

Yes, I like Blackbolt Classic too. Thanks for the efforts you've been putting into this skin. Very elegant video and audio control panel & OSD, and other small details. But the thing is I cannot customize wallpapers like in Clearity.

By the way, can you point me where to download the latest SVN build in .rar? I'm still using the old 2.1 version. Thanks.

love the skin =)
i appreciate the work you've put into it
i would like to submit some bugs i've found (not complaining, of course, just tryin to help)
seems that there are some problems with the key mapping while trying to use the xbmc xlink kai interface, as well as the occasional problem of xbmc freezing on load if autostart is enabled along with the kai interface (and xbmc detects and "takes over" kai). once again, thanks a bunch, and if there is any other way i can help, just lemme know =)

Since my TV only supports 480p and 1080i, I have the everything running in 1080i. I tried the desktop in 480p, but everything is just too big for my taste.

Some of the movies I have are in rar's and some are not, but I did have problems paying some of them in PMIII before.. Thats why I switched to Clearity, since it was supposed to use the least amount of memory.. I guess over time the skin started to use way more then the other skins, and now when I try to play some of my videos, XBMC just runs out of memory.. I go back to PMIII and the same file will usually play just fine...

If someone could tell me what is using up the memory in a skin and what I could do to reduce the amount of memory, (just from the skin, I already have cache sizes turned down etc.) I would appreciate it very much..
