screen freezes as soon as source starts to play but audio works - bigchach - 2015-10-01
I just installed kodi on a laptop and when I go to play a video it freezes and only plays audio. any suggestions?

don't you think it would b a problem with the computer or a/v settings. I just did the install and was checking sources for the first time

The bottom line is that there are so many permutations, not only in Kodi setups, but hardware, and software it's like saying "hey my car doesn't work" and leaving it at that.

Be aware you did the following steps before grabbing the logfile:
1. enable debug logging in system settings (system settings->system->debugging->enable debug logging)
2. disable all library updates or PVR things if used
3. restart Kodi
4. reproduce your issue as fast as you can (don´t do anything else)
5. grabe the log and paste it like mentioned above
if you didn´t enable debug logging at least, the logfile is useless.

Have you tried the search funktion, if you search for more less exarly the same titlen you will find seceral threads concerning this behavior. So a quick guess is that you have an AMD radion card with one off the broken drivers. If this is right try to manually install the latest beta driver. That fixed it for me, I think it was 15.8 beta
