Power on tv with cec - JonSnow88 - 2015-11-28 In an effort to havev a single remote to power everything is it possible to power on a tv using hdmi cec but with a keyboard key(s)? I have cec setup but since its slower everyone tends to use the boxee box remote, since it has a full keyboard on the back it would be awasome to map a shortcut key/combo that would toggle the power on the tv thus elemanating the use of the tv remote. RE: Power on tv with cec - katsup - 2015-11-28 I don't think CEC is active unless the TV is on so I doubt this is possible. You'd need to send the IR code to the TV to power it on. RE: Power on tv with cec - Milhouse - 2015-11-28 Some RPi distributions (eg. OpenELEC 6.0, possibly others) include a version of Kodi that has additional CEC options to control the speed of CEC button repeats, which might resolve your "slower" issues. Back to your question: you could use this add-on to send activate, standby and toggle CEC commands. RE: Power on tv with cec - JonSnow88 - 2015-11-28 That addon seems to work based on a link instead of a keyboard shortcut or am i missing something? RE: Power on tv with cec - Milhouse - 2015-11-28 You create a script that requests the link (makes the http request). Configure your remote to call your script.
