Btw, I have tried XBMC zone installer as well, but have no issues with that one.
I downgraded it to version 1.7.5, and it now works as expected.

XBMC Zone Installer is a separate plugin, works in completely different way, I wouldn't even mention it here...

I think he means the listing might be slow, especially in the Video section, there are a few plugins...

Updated to now read info from "description.xml" (if file exists) otherwise it fallsback to reading "default.py".
This may speedup reading info but depends on more Addons including description.xml

Hey everyone. I am very new to XBMC, just got it up and running a couple of days ago and love it!
I went through the tutorial for creating plugins and created a plugin for viewing the videos from the DIYnetwork video library. It is working great for me and I figured I'd share it with anyone that would want it.
It seems like the SVN Repo Installer is the best place to put it but I have no idea how to make it available there. If someone could show me how, I'd appreciate it.

I have the same question. What would be the best way to make a script or plugin available through the repo installer?

since this is the most common place to find plugins and scripts, it should be stickied. if "Team XBMC" feels differently then unsticky it again.

It seems that there are a really weird underlying bug with scripts and/or plugins, maybe python related??!! in Linux.

I have the same experience.
The problem with the slowness is not with loading the list, but sometimes the installer doesn't even start fetching. You press OK to install a plugin and nothing happens. If you are lucky, then after some time, which can be even 1 MINUTE it's eventually start installing, but if you are unlucky, xbmc freeze. I've also noticed that pressing some keys on the remote some times help facilitating to step further.
Here is a debug log where I tried to install phonebin. I pressed OK, and nothing happened. After about more then a minute, I started navigating up and down and suddenly Fetching changelog popped up, stating:
"SVN Repo installer - 83%
Fetching file ...
Changelog"
Then it stalled here, I had kill xbmc.

By the way, the same happens some time with AMT Lite, whereas trailer download not starting, but if I press some keys, it eventually starts. Also some times it stop downloading at a certain percentage, but after some keypress it continues. But some time it freeze completely.
Again, this maybe only happens with Linux. So is it a plugin issue, or this should be reported to xbmc devs?

I got the same issue with PlugIn installation in XBMC Live 9.11 installed on HDD.
Actually it appears that all plugins eventually load, but it takes hours or days for very few actual bits transmitted/installed.
Also, when starting streamed sources, i.e. a movie, it takes ca. 20min before the movie actually starts, once it starts it is fine, though, so it is not a bandwidth issue.
Any way we can troubleshoot this?

Is nuka1195 still around? I've been trying to get commit access to the SVN for a couple of weeks now, but no response. (I know about the lightning, but I requested access at least a week before that happened)
Can anyone else add me?
