HTPC 4K output vs 1080p with upscaling? - Chambers - 2017-01-21

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone could help me with a question. I have a new Kabby Lake Beebox that can output @ 4k 60 resolution. It is connected to a 65" 4K TV that does upscaling on 1080p content. My question is, is it better for my to run the HTPC @ 4K (with kodi doing the upscaling) or should I run the HTPC at 1080p and have the TV do the upscaling instead? Does it even matter or is it more 'do what looks better to you' sort of a discussion. Just wondering if there's a certain 'standard' to go with. Thanks!

Tom

Try both.
IMO HTPCs that can use MadVR with NGU or NNDIE13 will be better at upscaling then Android and LibreELEC.
