- guizmo1974 - 2008-11-04 15:44 Yes, use Hardy PPA. Also, make sure to kill the process Pulseaudio. If you don't, xbmc will not be able to open (for me that was the case). N.B. DON'T use the "Cruft Remover" (if you have it) as it will remove required dependencies for xbmc.... Good luck! - tomsun - 2008-11-04 20:35 markusx009 Wrote:You can use the repo for HARDY. worked fine for me Didnt work for me! /t - LAW-Mastermind - 2008-11-05 00:32 guizmo1974 Wrote:Yes, use Hardy PPA. Cruft Remover? Whats that? - rodalpho - 2008-11-05 00:48 It's a tool that shipped with prerelease versions of intrepid. Don't run it, if you have it. - LAW-Mastermind - 2008-11-05 01:33 Just tried the Hardy PPA on 8.10, did not work for me, needs libbluetooth2 or so, why does xbmc need bluetooth libs? I think i´ll wait for the 8.10 PPA. - davewantsmoore - 2008-11-05 11:37 Hardy PPA didn't work under Intrepid here either. Same bluetooth library dependence. Any idea whn we might see packages built for Intrepid? - conza - 2008-11-05 11:53 just download the libbluetooth2 package and dpkg install it, then run apt-get install xbmc from hardy ppa's under intrepid. I've just completed two such installs the last days here, and no problem at any time. libbluetooth2 can be found here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/i386/libbluetooth2/3.24-1 - BLKMGK - 2008-11-05 22:41 XBMC uses bluetooth for some controllers. Intrepid and 8.10 are the SAME thing. - Kryspy - 2008-11-06 00:03 Any difference in this build? Does it solve the messed up screen with the beta 8.11 ATI drivers? Kryspy - eversmann - 2008-11-06 01:05 I would suggest compiling from source until another release with intrepid support goes out the door. Actually, it's very easy to do and works great. |
