- rjeeves33 - 2005-04-09 23:49 thanks for a quick response. you input is greatly appreciated. i also appreciate the the last part. i thought i had posted without opening myself to sarcasm but yet again experianced posters just can't resist having a dig at those with less experiance. to clarrify i am using xbmc as my dash and launching apps using the menu system provided by xbmc. my post was requesting a way of playing a dvd from a folder with a menu whilst knowing it is not possible using the built in player of xbmc. i was clearly looking for a solution to this problem and was hoping for possible solutions, perhaps an app i was not aware or a trick in dvdx i didn't know. hope this cleared up the confusion i caused.
- los93sol - 2005-04-10 01:46 wow bandit, 1 post and what a post it was! the whole xbox 2 issue is another debate altogether, but the devs do this for free, people chose to donate to support this particular feature and if you are such hot shit why don't you deliver on the goods yourself? seriously, don't press the envelope because they do not have to do it at all! - deltop - 2005-04-10 03:16 ah i get you. i was just a trifle confused by your post sometimes it can be hard to tell exactly how much experience someone has. to elaborate a little more, unfotunately there are no other apps available that can play dvd movies ripped either to image format or vob sets with menus, at least not from the hard drive. there is a pre-alpha verison of a dvd player in xbmc right now that can do it, just not very well. it's also disabled by default. i'm also not allowed to tell you how to enable it since it's such an early verison the devs don't want people using it. i've tried it and honestly the drawbacks (depending on your setup) heavily outweigh it's usefullness right now. hopefully it won't be too much longer before it gets a little more work done on it so that using it becomes much more feasible.
- rjeeves33 - 2005-04-11 01:01 thanks for info. i look forward to future developments with the dvd player app. i still have trouble accepting that xbmc is free and totally awsome yet ms expect you to pay to 'extend' a stock xbox. lol - headrat - 2005-04-11 23:28 i would love to see something like the "my movies" plugin for mce2005 for xbmc:- http://www.binnerup.dk/mce/mymovies.htm ![]() headrat - princi - 2005-04-14 02:02 after becoming used to the project mayhem iii skin, it makes mce2005's ui design look oh so dated. xbmc is truly an outstanding piece of work. we're all eagerly awaiting the prince's crowning, though. - piodio - 2005-04-15 09:07 hi, changelog of cvs 2005-04-15 says ; updated: libdvdnav.dll and libdvdcss-2.dll with support for largefiles (>2gb, using our custom headers) then, what is that mean exactly 'using our custom headers' ? thank you ! - elupus - 2005-04-15 15:27 don't care about it too much.. it's just a comment for ourself.. plus you won't have any use for it yet anyway as those dlls are only used for the new dvdplayer (which btw isn't ready for release just yet) - LostIt - 2005-04-15 18:55 new dvd player? :kickass: i can't wait! you guys rock. no rush on the release. just excited! - Livin - 2005-04-16 06:11 any status on the pending release of the dvdplayer? |
