I just tried this function and decided it was pretty much useless... when you have a decent rom collection. The alternative is putting files with the same name as the rom in the same folder (dunno if this requires the patch from justsomeuser).

What I did was get the boxart from Hyperspin-fe and combined this with roms named in the No-Intro way. Check out Hyperspins tutorial on how to do this.

It loades with the selection of executable file etc, then after 1 second up comes something over this saying

Launcher

Loading Directory

Nothing happens and as soon as i press cancel xbmc freezes.

I have had this bug on linux (both in 9.10 and the version I patched for svn), but I can't recall ever having it on Windows. The strange thing is that I also recalling making it work on Linux when the bug suddenly disappeared - I also think the problem goes away after adding just 1 launcher. Perhaps stealing the launcher.xml-file from someone else will do the trick?

Thanx for the ideas Zerqent gonna check that out , wonder if you have a rom cover art and like with the movies manually select the cover art instead of scraping it

Anyone working to make to add this to the new add-on manager? I am surprised that nobody has been asking before as this appears to be the most popular app?!

How could I go about adding the Windows Network to the source list? Doesn't seem to be supported by this so far. Any addons for the script someone can chuck me?

just map it using map a network drive (built in with windows)

so i finally got this launcher working (using 31xxx XBMC and the premade package a few posts back).

ive got it working with zsnes (temporarily have a ps3 remote used with bluetooth to control zsnes and xbmc just fine). the only thing that isn't working for me is getting thumbs for the roms.

what's the easiest way to get ALL my roms with proper thumbs?

Probably the easiest way is to download the cover art packs from Hyperspin's website.

and then what?

im trying to avoid alot of file renaming and manually setting thumbs.

EDIT: just to test, i tried renaming the files to the same as the rom itself (different extensions obviously) and i don't see any thumbs for the games.

REDIT: finally found the someuser patch 20 pages back.. it seems to already be built into the tar that was made for newer svn builds of xbmc.

k looks like it works now if filenames are the same.. had to readd the launcher app.. but now all my games are randomly organized (cant sort by date/name/etc)

That fixes the sort order. Sort of. You can't sort by any other order, but at least it's alphabetical like that. I'll work on allowing other sort orders when I get the time to.

links dead.

- iLLNESS - 2010-07-14

appearantly, if you right click and select import files from path (even though it was already added before) it will sort alphabetically now. must be a bug :0

The files from hyperspin follows No-Intros naming convention, so either get roms already in that form, or use a renaming utility. There is a howto for that to on hyperspins website.

I'm with you Steve, especially now that they have put out the call for Addons.
