Can't install xbmc from ppa (ubuntu hardy):dependency issues - ninebr34ker - 2008-09-17 My pc is fully updated and I've set up the xbmc ppa. When I go to install xbmc it says Quote:Could not mark all packages for installation or upgrade I know that the skins depend on xbmc-common so thats my first thing to look at So I try just installing that and get that same thing only that xbmc-test-helper is uninstallable. So I search for the package and it's not there any more. If it's a synaptic error like this I'm probably not the only one experiencing it. - succo - 2008-09-17 maybe you first installed xbmc a lot of time ago, when the packages were xbmc, xbmc-common and xbmc-skin common (if i remember well) or (more recently) when it was xbmc-skin-pm3 (without -hd) if you did, you'll need to manually install the missing packages with (sudo) apt-get install <packagename>, after that you can go with system-update - ninebr34ker - 2008-09-17 succo Wrote:maybe you first installed xbmc a lot of time ago, when the packages were xbmc, xbmc-common and xbmc-skin common (if i remember well) or (more recently) when it was xbmc-skin-pm3 (without -hd) Nope, this is a fresh install, update, and configuration of ubuntu. No previous install of it. And take a look and tell me if you see the package in the repository. I'm pretty sure that if I can't probably no end users can. - succo - 2008-09-17 don't know, it seems to be all ok in the repository, afaik, anyway i don't currently use PPA... anyway, i'd consider getting the source and compiling by myself (that's what i do every day) to have the 'bleeding edge' version ditto - same problem here - analogue - 2008-09-18 xbmc-test-helper not showing up in synaptic so can't upgrade - speed32219 - 2008-09-22 I had it working and did an upgrade today to the latest sept 17th build. I think four packages were installed. I've been having nothing but problems and it was suggested that I remove and re-install. I removed everything including the software sources third party link and then re-installed and I am getting the same error. The following packages have unmet dependencies: xbmc: Depends: xbmc-common (= 8.10b1-hardy2) but it is not going to be installed Depends: xbmc-skin-pm3-hd (= 8.10b1-hardy2) but it is not going to be installed Depends: xbmc-web-pm3 (= 8.10b1-hardy2) but it is not going to be installed E: Broken packages So what you are saying is that I need to install common, pm3-hd and pm3 separately? - arnova - 2008-09-22 Just try "aptitude install xbmc-common". aptitude will then probably tell you what needs to be done to get it installed (probably some version conflict). You could also check whether there is already some xbmc stuff installed with "dpkg -l |grep xbmc". If there is stuff installed, remove it first and retry.... speed32219 Wrote:I had it working and did an upgrade today to - speed32219 - 2008-09-23 Fixed, thank you for the input. I found some left over bug reporting and python stuff. Also since I last installed (Fresh) I turned off universe and multiverse and any updates. I find that when I have the system running the way I want it, I then get auto updates and a problem crops up. Everything is working but sound from my MP3 collection. Use to work, just need to find out what changed, and what is strange is that 5.1 AC3 movie audio is great and a problem I had before was no sound using MP3 or Movies, but when I got MP3 working audio for the movies started working too. Works well with Linux mp3 players. - orion - 2008-10-14 Hi I have the same problem ... when I run aptitude I get this... I run The following packages have unmet dependencies: xbmc-common: Depends: libfaac0 which is a virtual package. Resolving dependencies... The following actions will resolve these dependencies: Keep the following packages at their current version: xbmc [Not Installed] xbmc-common [Not Installed] xbmc-skin-pm3-hd [Not Installed] xbmc-web-pm3 [Not Installed] Score is -9846 Any ideas? - orion - 2008-10-14 Desgard my previous post. I founf the solution in diferent topic. I did not have multiverse in my apt sources! That solved it. Thanks keep up the good job - Macro - 2008-11-18 Well, I have the same problem, but I have every repository added (multiverse and so on). I also reloaded my lists but when I try to locate the needed libs (liks libsdl-mixer1.2) I cant find them. So there seems to be some problem with the package. I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 fresh and never had xbmc installed prior any help is appreciated thanks - arnova - 2008-11-18 Please provide the output generated when trying to install xbmc... - Macro - 2008-11-19 Sorry, this is what I get Code: marc@Schleppi:~$ sudo apt-get install xbmc-common Its in german but it just says, that the packages are not installable. The second output says that libsdl-mixer1.2 is not available Thanks - arnova - 2008-11-19 Fortunately I speak a little German ;-) What happens when you issue "aptitude search libsdl-mixer" ? - Macro - 2008-11-20 Nothing Code: marc@Schleppi:~$ aptitude search libsdl-mixer I tried the sudo options as well |
