Kodi crash with certain glitchy mkv videos on Fedora SilverBlue (bazzite) and Ubuntu - rayrayrayraydog - 2023-09-13 Since version 20 releases I have noticed that some of my MKV videos cause a complete crash out of Kodi. In prior releases, the videos that cause the crash would cause a kind of skip in the video and some visual garbage, usually green noise on the screen for a second or two but it would never cause a crash. I have isolated a video that causes the crash and run a test with a clean install / empty config with debug logging enabled. I think this is the root error: 7 error <general>: CVaapi2Texture::Map: vaSyncSurface - Error: the requested VAEntryPoint is not supported (13) This is an AMD system with an R5 5600 and a 6700XT. I have recreated the crash on two AMD GPU based systems with two different distros. I apologize in advance if this is a well known problem. This time I'm using Ubuntu 23.04 and the log output is a bit different, but the same video produces a crash in Kodi at the same point. This time I was able to get some debugging info via gdb (below). The sample video from that issue causes the crash at 0:11 is promised. RE: Kodi crash with certain glitchy mkv videos on Fedora SilverBlue (bazzite) and Ubuntu - izprtxqkft - 2023-10-03
there are simply too wide of range in variables to draw any conclusions try -
RE: Kodi crash with certain glitchy mkv videos on Fedora SilverBlue (bazzite) and Ubuntu - rayrayrayraydog - 2023-10-03 Thanks for replying. I will focus now on just the Lenovo/Ubuntu system. I managed to get 21.0-ALPHA1 (20.90.101) Git:20230413-53001491bc installed on this machine from the nightly PPA. You did mention that the PPA's are no longer maintained and this is the latest version I could find to install. Flathub Beta supplies a much older version. For the 11 second video from the mentioned Github issue, vaapi-crash-hevc-4k.mkv, I do get a crash. kodi.log: https://paste.kodi.tv/ariwakojev.kodi kodi crashlog: https://paste.kodi.tv/legeyutocu.kodi For my original badvideo.mkv, I get another crash. kodi.log: https://paste.kodi.tv/leyepiyexa.kodi kodi crashlog: https://paste.kodi.tv/mipikozuru.kodi |
