USB stick error - ~zak - 2008-10-22 When trying to create the USB stick I keep getting the following error: ERROR: Firmware file "b43/ucode5.fw" not found or load failed. You must go to linuxwireless.... and download the correct firmware. I could select the stick and it asked me to format it, but the above error message kept popping up multiple times. Any idea? It's a 4GB transcend jetset stick for what it's worth... - ~zak - 2008-10-22 very strange, I let it run and ignored the error messages, then it finished preparing the USB stick, but now when I boot off of the stick I keep the same message popping up again after seeing the initial XBMC screen, Then screen goes black and then the messages come up again. - ~zak - 2008-10-22 So, after XBMC ate my transcend USB stick and it's fried now, I tried it with a different stick, a Kingston Data Traveler this time. I also re-downloaded the image file and burned it on another CD, just in case. On my Dell Latitude D620 I can boot up with the CD and when I select "0" I am still getting all sorts of error messages, including the previous mentioned: b43/ucode5.fw not found b43-phy0 error device descriptor read/64, error -110 and then somehow it finishes copying the files over to the stick with gazllion repetition of the above errors. When I boot of the stick I get the blank screen and this message: could not find kernel image:linux boot:_ Since I have 0 knowledge of linux I would appreciate some help. Thanks! |
