Please help a newbee - jplappo - 2008-10-25

I installed XMBC with the patch program, but as a newbee, I am not sure how to get media to play. I have an Airport Extreme attached to my router via ethernet. From my AE, I have both my Macbook and my AppleTV hooked up via ethernet. How do I see the folders on my hard drive on the Macbook? Or do I have to transfer them to my AppleTV?

Sadly I don;t know apple at all (bar for a little getting XBMC installed), but have you tried adding a new source and then either using SMB or UPnP

You need to enable file shaing on your mac. go to system preferences, Sharing. this takes you through it http://www.1nova.com/blog/?p=185

You then need to new source network location in xbmc. select SMB, add the share name and your username and password and bingo

hope that helps a bit
