This is great news. Hopefully we wont have to wait long for the Nvidia ION.

motd2k,

thanks for your effort!

I don't know if it helps, but have you seen this thread?

- ant_thomas - 2009-02-03

Yes yes yes!!

This running on some sort of Nvidia ION system will definitely the perfect platform for XBMC. I've delayed buying any sort of hardware to replace my XBox as my media center until GPU decoding was successful! If I was going to build an HTPC I wanted it to do 1080p from the get go!

Nearly there Big Grin

So is there any code for us to test, yet? Big Grin

Not yet

Great work motd2k! I'm going to wait and see if this gets in to XBMC before I pull the trigger on getting the hardware for my XBMC machine (I'd prefer to get an Atom based machine so I can VESA mount it behind the TV).

This is coming along quite well now...

Do you know yet what hardware is recomended for this? I'm thinking of replacing my integrated nv7150 since I dont think it supports VDPAU.

- motd2k - 2009-02-10

I'm running it on AMD5000+ and integrated NVIDIA8200. I'd recommend a 9400 integrated mobo (and enough system memory to allow you to assign 512MB to the GPU). If you want an add-on card, perhaps an 8400 with PCI-E 2.0 support and 512MB... (i.e. a G98)

Cool thanks, not a massive expenditure then thats nice.

- CrazyFrenchman - 2009-02-10

shoot the Asus Eee B204 uses an "ATI Radeon HD 3400 series with 256MB DDR2 memory". Dangit that's not gonna work with this. Guess I need to figure out a different Hardware solution.. Still excellent work!

- nipnup - 2009-02-11

Wow, very impressive. This is so gonna be used on my NF8200+BE 2350.

Saves me from buying a Phenom II X3 Big Grin

motd2k, is your implementation using dvdplayer? Meaning, is it still ffmpeg based?

I wonder if something similar could be done for CUDA. But I don't know how similar VDPAU and CUDA are, honestly.
