[RELEASE] TAC.TV (Script) - Videos on tac.tv website - Temhil - 2008-11-15

Hi,

I just realeased this script called TAC.TV (v1.0).
It allows to watch videos on http://www.tac.tv website which I highly recommend.
Each week a new short video is added. Watch out! Laughing too much can cause belly pain!
If you like and enjoy TAC.tv, please support their creators by visiting their website http://www.tac.tv and/or buying their DVD(s)
This script support English and French since videos are provided in both languages.
FYI, it is compatible with the version of XBMC released before and after the beta1 (and of course the wonderful Atlantis! Big Grin)
It also runs on XBOX, Windows, Linux and Mac.

Here are few screenshots:

Nice... - f8lcoder - 2008-11-15

Temhil,

Good work on this..Cool

I have to admit I haven't run the script yet, but I did crack open the default.py. The code looks tight and put together with sound logic. I've been looking for something like this to help me learn more about writing scripts.

If you don't mind maybe I can pick your brain on some of the code if you have the time to explain a few of the classes to me. It might help me develop better scripts. There are a number of them I'd like to have a go at, but I feel I'm not quite accomplished enough.

If it's OK to open a dialogue via PM let me know..

Thanks,

FC

Hi f8lcoder,

Thank you. No problems if I can help.
I am still new with Python on XBMC bit I start to feel really more confortable now with few script I already did.
I wrote a lot of comment in my code, hopefully it should help. I gonna to upgrade it to WindowXML soon, I am still learning how it is working (not too much easy examples are availlable)
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any question.

I hope you will enjoy this script.

Hi,

just wanted to take the time to say thanks for this script, it is very polished, and is a pleasure to use. Those characters make me crease.
Are you thinking of doing anything else script/plugin wise, IE films ect?
because if this script is anything to go by you could nail them no sweat!!!

Keep up the excellent work

Thanks

Very nice,

when first running you get the language selection. there was no gfx that showed i selected english.

maybe just pressing left or right is enough?

Thanks for the feedback, actually you see the selected language in Yellow, you have to do left/right to chosse between English and French, then press OK.
After that the script starts and you won't see this startup script again (unless you delete your configuration file TAC.cfg)

If you want to change the language while you browsinf video, just press on the meni on le left on 'Francais' or 'English', the language of the menu and the logo will change.
If you want to change the language at startup (the one you set up the rally 1st time), go in the menu settings and change the Startup language (see the screenshot above), it won't change the current UI, only at next startup.

It you see any better way to do it, let me know, I tried here to follow the pattern used on the website http://www.tac.tv

TAC.TV v2.0 [New script released] - Temhil - 2008-12-28

Hi,

Here is the v2.0 of the script TAC.TV.

This version has major change in the UI since I use now WindowXML (really powerful when you start to get how it works).
Like the v1.0 this is compatible:
- XBOX
- Windows
- Linux
- Mac

Here is the changelog:
26-12-08 Version 2.0 by Temhil
- Total redesigned UI in order to use WindowXML and all the advantages of it (display using tabs like on the website)
- Bug fix where picture wasn't displayed picture URL wasn't defined in the XML
- Download pictures in a separate thread (in case of Mac/Linux it avoid to block the UI while picture are downloaded)

Here are few screenshots:

This plugin looks so nice. I can get it to work in Windows, but in Xbox it always stops at "Retrieved 0 Items". It seems to always do this whenever a plugin has its own UI (ie: Navi-X, TAC.TV) Is there a way around this?

- f8lcoder - 2008-12-30

Huh

Its a script there skippy run it from the scripts folder...

Hi collation,

Yes I confirm what f8lcoder said, it is a script so you have to install in in XBMC\scripts\ directory. I never tried to run it as a plugin and would be surprised it even run in this case.

I run it on 2 differents XBOX, and don't have any problem, please let me know if you still have the issue.

Otherwise you can install it usaing the script Installer Passion-XBMc if you already have this one, TAC.TV v2 is available on it.

If it still doesn't works, check you XBMC version on your XBOX, you need to have at least Atlantis since this version uses WindowXML.

Thanks so much! The videos are hilarious.
