Progress Update - xb2iris - 2008-11-28 13:07
Thanks for your donations thus far... its been a good first two days, and we're getting closer to Volume IV hitting the streets of XBMC... so, keep the donations coming... I'm eaking to finish this release, and with all this free time, I'd almost certainly have finished this release by now... It's been a week since my computer died
Anyways, keep the donations coming... and I hope to report back some more screenshots as soon as possible!

xb2iris Wrote:thanks man... progress bar which progress bar you talking about screenwise? i've got a few in there in different places...
I was aiming for a progressbar inside the bottom tab that pops up when for example updating your library. Also i think it's better to give the bottom tab a new position in the skin, as it sometimes overlaps on screen information.
Hope u know what i mean now.

Quote:symptons are as follows... computer froze in xbmc, then shut off and something smelled funky in the room... opened it up and nothing looks burnt out... but the pc doesn't turn on anymore... maybe the power supply went... no idea... coz that doesn't look burnt out...
Most likely the power supply...which never "looks" bad. Only way to test is with a voltmeter, or to swap PSU from another PC and see if it works. If not...then it's the mobo/processor/memory.
As far as the frames go...if I could offer my humble opinion...
Maybe have four or five sets? I like the angled one...it's different. You should also not totally scrap the last set of frames either. The ones that looked kinda like CD/DVD cases, but rounder and prettier? Yeah...maybe re-do those or something a little...
So that's two.
Then do a "minimal" frame set similar to the concept pic I posted, and maybe have a "classic" set that is either straight from the OOOOLD aeon playbook, or just make them look like CD/DVD cases...
I know...one step at a time. But I'd gladly help do any of the gfx work on this stuff if it'll help.

that will be sorted out for the next release... so counting on u all other horizonz fans to help out get that release out... new dialog bars are almost finish, so it'll definately be in there... will release screenshots of them if i make another $20 or so dollars... can't release a lot because obviously, its a mission to get screenshots these days... which sucks...

u see, most of those frames were done by third parties, and as such, i've tried to get them outta horizonz, so its mostly my own work... those dvd covers are great, but are hard to manipulate for other sections, because they aren't my work... look at the old filmstrip episodes frame... got so many complaints about it... but yeah, if i have these universal ones, i can always change them at a later stage... but yes, first things first, gotta get a pc... and im sure ur right about the power supply, but no money to sort that out and its pointless seeing as that pc didn't deal with xbmc too well... too frustrating... but yeah... hope i'll come up with a universal frame that everyone likes one day... but we'll see...

Thanks so much for all the support thus far, got about 30% of what i need, or realistically, if I'm not going to get a goodish PC, 20% of the way... Progress has dried up somewhat though, so especially to all those guys who have asked for feature and it's either been included in previous builds or are confirmed for next release, help a dude out... it takes quite a few hours to add every single feature requested, so it's understandable if I ask for your guys help to get a new release out.
Anyways, look forward to hearing from you. Support is needed and will be much Greatly appreciated. And guys, Your names will be added to the Core section in a Special Thanks section, so officially, you'll all be a part of the skin as of Volume IV. Thanks again for all your support.

or alternativelty, you could put the skin into the SVN and ask people to help in other ways. Maybe through real-time communication with other people they could maybe help you complete what you have left to do

i've thought about it, trust me... but for me, being the perfectionist i am, i'd redo everything, and it would put unneccessary pressure on me as a skinner... like djh_, i kinda like the solo mission idea... don't want to retrace my own steps as well, and lose track of where what is, and whats actually different... at the moment... the code is pretty mungled and untidy, and more input into that code, would make even me disorientated... hope u get what i mean... control is good... but unlike u, i don't have experience in doing this in a team... guess it works better if thats the way it starts...
nyways... sorted all ur earlier requests out or most of them, so i hope u'll like the new build when it comes out!
