OK, I'm gonna be brutally honest here, so please bear with me.

I'm having a hard time buying the fact that your shipping company's not going to refund you a penny - even standard insurance, mandatory for most overseas shipping methods should more than amply cover at least your Xbox. But this is all moot.

The fact of the matter is, I just sent you ten of your queen's pounds - not because I necessarily believe that you wont get your money back off the shipping, but because I think your work is generally top notch and there is no reason why you shouldn't be rewarded for your efforts - particularly because you make the results of such efforts available for free. Ironic, isn't it? Wink

Keep up the great work. Although you might want to rethink the pseudo-angled frames, in my humble opinion they're not as elegant even as the original AEON ones. Also you're soon going to be competing against STARK, so the style race is on Wink

All the best, look forward to IV.

Thanks so much for all the support thus far, got about 30% of what i need, or realistically, if I'm not going to get a goodish PC, 20% of the way... Progress has dried up somewhat though, so especially to all those guys who have asked for feature and it's either been included in previous builds or are confirmed for next release, help a dude out... it takes quite a few hours to add every single feature requested, so it's understandable if I ask for your guys help to get a new release out.

Anyways, look forward to hearing from you. Support is needed and will be much Greatly appreciated. And guys, Your names will be added to the Core section in a Special Thanks section, so officially, you'll all be a part of the skin as of Volume IV. Thanks again for all your support.

MikeBeecham Wrote:or alternativelty, you could put the skin into the SVN and ask people to help in other ways. Maybe through real-time communication with other people they could maybe help you complete what you have left to do

You know its a rare day these days when I actually agree with Mike but I have to agree that sending you money is not the only way to continue the Horizons project.

I can really appreciate that you lost hardware and need cash to replace it but now it basically seems like your holding the skin for ransom to people (If I don't get the cash I wont be making Horizons anymore) (if you don't donate I'm going to be less inclined to add your feature)

I'm sure that after a while you will eventually get yourself a new computer/xbox even if you don't get the money from other people it just may take longer.

To be honest the whole asking for money for this sort of stuff really gets on my nerves I hated it when Blackbolt did it for mc360 It bugged me when djh_ did it for AEON and I disliked the original post here for Horizons but I kept quiet because I understand.
But the last post I quoted is starting to get around to the whole come on keep giving me money I haven't got enough. You have asked once you even pinned the topic in your section of the forum just leave it at that and stop asking again and again and be greatfull you get anythign at all, if people really want to give you money they will don't try and guilt them into it.

And if you cannot continue to work on Horizons just because you need money for hardware and arn't getting enough then let someone else try or just wait until you can get the hardware yourself

And yes I know this post sounds rude but its not my intention

- R111 - 2008-12-02 03:59

Honest but not factual. I'm a South African expat living in the USA now. I've had two shipments 'lost' - one stolen outright, and another held hostage by an underhanded middleman customs clearing company in NY.

Insurance is not mandatory for sea-freight. And when you do use it, good luck collecting when all the middle-men are pointing fingers (often in different countries) at each other. The usual tactic is to gum up the works so as to introduce a delay of a month or so, at which time they put your stuff up for action and pocket the cash (customer never collected goods).

I'm glad that Jezz_x posted in this thread. Because this thread annoyed me as well when I first saw it. However I too took the high road and decided not to post. I did this because 1. no one else seemed to feel the same way I did. and 2. I did understand the basic concept of having people contribute to the skin.

I understand the loss of hardware. But it happens and it is really one's own responsibility to replace such things... After all I'm fairly sure the computer must have been used for many other personal things other than the skin...

I have tested "horizonz" and find it to be a nice mod of Aeon... However the most significant thing I find unfavorable about this situation is the fact that xb2iris is asking for money for a project that is still just a mod someone else's work. The majority of Horizonz is still DjH's Aeon.

All this aside I won't argue the fact that people donated upon their own free will, that is respectable and if they chose to do that than I won't step in their way.

This is just how I feel and don't mean to be disrespectable to anybody.

suggestion: start a blog. post screen shots with updates regularly. add a donate button that everyone can see.

sorry if this has already been addressed, i didn't want to read 5 pages worth of this thread.

i like my frames Sad... hehehe... illegant is right... i thought they were that... worked hard on them, so what not say, give them a tryout and we can always change them for Volume V... that okay? don't want to spend anymore time re-doing anything before i get a volume out for u guys who have so ultra helpful... that sound good...

nyways... shipping company has an insurance issue... they don't payout any proportion of the loss, unless u have insurance... and becuase i personally knew the guy in the uk who came and got my stuff, and having used this company to send my stuff to the uk in the first place, then ireland, then back again without consiquence, who could blame me for trusting them... so, as before, i never took the extra insurance package out, as i was trying to save $$ for the holidays this side... then KAPOW, for the first time they let me down and its the worst bulk of the goods... lets just say... most of my stuff arrived safely... furniture and all the big things... but smaller less valuable stuff like my laptop, xbox and ps3 went bye bye... and they've said that without that insurance, i'm done for... finally after the incident... i read the small print... u get what i'm on about... can't say that this loss is entirely their fault though... i never spent of the insurance, so, my bad... theres the explaination dude... hope it makes more sense now... and strange thing, they are paying to get one of my couches repaired coz it has some damage on it... how ironic... that insurance is included... sucks doesn't it... but thats life i guess... and i guess i've leant a cruel lesson...

i know... u've got a unique tone when it comes to sending messages... remember the first time u gave me some skinning advice back in day... thought u were angry at me for asking... hehehe... but yeah, i'm getting used to that tone...

nyways... didn't know anyone else ever asked for donations before... thought i was the pioneer... dam... nyways... to tell u the truth... if ur getting the idea that i'm holding the forum to ransom... then u don't have a clue how much effort i've put into this thing... but besides the effort... and thats not what this entire thing is for, this forum is completely a creation of impatience... u can ask anyone who's been with horizonz since the beginning... i've made certain i've been in touch with everyone who posts on any of these forums... and this skin is almost entirely user specified i.e. most of this skin, is based on opinions given to me by others... and its become addictive helping the masses to put this skin together the way they want it (and that includes u dude)... so, as i'm impatient, and having a free month in which to do as much as possible on this thing, i've asked for help so i could do that... considering that the entirety of the coding has been done while i was doing a 9-6 job... guess it makes sense saying this would be a great month to do a lot...

and guess what... when u requested those scan bars for video and music navigation... i put them in straight in there after i knew how to do them... thats the process of this skin... guess i'm a bit needy at the moment... but we all needy some time... at least i'm needy with a purpose... if it nags u, i know, theres nothing i can do about that... i'm sorry jezz_x, but i totally understand ur point, and i can assure u that i'm not holding anyone to randsom... everyone who asked me for something, knows they're most probably going to get their request and i can only release a new volume in february based on situation and i need help to change that... these are facts, not trying to imply anything by them... implication isn't the name of the game man...

nyways... hope this gets u into the loop... just want u to understand the situation, and not judge it... i'm just trying to get by... and this seems like a good idea to get some assistance... sorry if it offends u man... not my intention... so take it easy... i've had enough negative stuff happen to me of late... just want to get back into positive strides again and get this thing up and going again... that shouldn't be hard to understand... hope u do...

hehehe... that guy never replied to a single pm i ever sent him... weird hah... guess he doesn't like me very much for modding his skin... no idea...

there we go... another perspective... i've been thinking that u know... this whole business is dodgy as hell in my opinion... it felt dodgy from the day they said they shipment was late... dam... so its happened to you as well... no idea if its possible to get any kinda action taken against themConfused coz i don't have a clue.

yeah i get yah... i'm doing a lot of standing up for myself today... well, all i can say is, go see if u can make a mod like this, and see how long it takes and how much effort u put into it... and then try to reply to every post every person posts on this forum... and then try to consider everyones opinion and think about everyones suggestions and put them into that skin on ur own, after doing the research on how to do it... not baring in mind, that u need to teach urself xml before that... and have a 9-6 job to deal with a kid to look after and a social life to have... sounds like quite a mission doesn't it...Confused and im not asking for donations because i want to... its because there isn't any other way around the dilemma... if u don't understand that... u aren't human dude... hope that makes sense...

like it the way it is right now man... thanks for the suggestion... but there'll be screenshots tomorrow with some feature updates... check back then... and it's hard to get screenshots knowing i don't have a pc... doing everything in this internet cafe im typing this in at the mome... which sucks...

These comments are about the bits I bolded in the above quote since they were directed at me

You can't seriously think I don't have a clue about how much effort goes into making a skin. ? When you get to 7 skins with 3 made completely from nothing with not a single line of pre made code or images (not including the ones redone from nothing in the same theme eg pm3.hd) then you can maybe relate to my idea of how long I know it takes. Oo And yes I also have a job a wife and 2 kids

I get it that it takes a long time but on the other hand no one is forcing you to do anything if you don't have the time or energy to do it then go slower. Don't listen to the people complaining and whining about when is the next version coming. Now on the other hand since you have started taking money/payment for doing things then yeah you are now obligated to at least continue

As for the "Request" I put in it was more or a bug report and I told you many times if you don't want to add it then don't.

Anyway all that aside This is about stop begging for money on this forum. You have the post you have it pinned leave it at that. It also came to my attention after I posted the first comment in here that you have also been spamming our Forum Membership in Personal Messages (wihout them asking for it) with the exact same message of please give me more money so I can continue to work on it. (assumption yes but you have allready made it clear in this thread you don't want help working on it just help finacially)
