Why do you post this question in a thread named "Sound delay when using 24hz, why? "

- ATTILA - 2009-03-10

Because you are able to use 24p :-)

Are you able to put your refresh rate to 24hz in Windows? My TV supports it too, but I need to use a certain HDMI port for it. Make sure your situation isn't similar.

Do you have the automatic refresh rate setting enabled in XBMC? It isn't by default.

yes automatic refresh rate setting enabled in XBMC and I am using HDMI connection and also my windows able to set 24 hz but it is now 50 hz I try also 24 hz . But when I start the mkv I saw only 1080p on my tv screen. It should be 1080/24p . If I press info I saw the film 24hz but my tv dosen't sens the 24p signal. I am using vista and my tv is sony w3000. What kind of settings should be on catalyst .

Currently, Ati/AMD graphic cards have issues with switching refreshrates. I experienced similar problems when I set Windows and XBMC to 60Hz, with automatic refreshrate turned ON. When I start a movie the screen blanks for a few seconds, but my TV still displays 60Hz.
I have to set both the Windows desktop and XBMC to 1080p@23Hz (=23.976Hz), to be able to get 1080p24. When playing back PAL it will switch to 50Hz.

This is not a XBMC issue however, it's a driver issue. I have tested this on a HD3870 and a HD4350, both having this problem. When using a Geforce 8400gs or 9500GT, I was able to set both the Windows Desktop and XBMC to 60Hz for a fluid interface and still be able to get 1080p24 when playing back video.

The audio delay is inherent to 24p playback it seems. Setting a default -.250s delay gives perfect a/v-sync.

You should probably post your logs. It would be good to see what XBMC thinks the refresh rate should be when playing the movie.

You're using a recent SVN build, right? Have you tried using a fresh profile?

Anyone tried build 18445 or bigger just saw that ffmpeg is updated in that revision for windows. Maybe that would help with sync issues.

- ATTILA - 2009-03-13

Thanks Guy I thing I have to create a debug log and Sent it . My xbmc version is XBMCSetup-Rev1843.

Did you even read what I wrote? Before you start blaming XBMC, you better check your videocard and drivers.

Set Windows Desktop to 23Hz and XBMC too. Then you can use 1080p24.

Nope no changes with the new ffmpeg version.
