- ashlar - 2009-07-07 I posted this to the Wiki. It's a preliminary cut and paste, plus some editing, from moby-uk information. http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_use_an_external_player All requests of clarification will help in better explaining stuff in the Wiki. I still need to wrap my head around the whole "replacers" concept. - moby-uk - 2009-07-07 zag2me Wrote:Watched tag is still not working for me with the latest build That's because the changes I made to get it working aren't committed to SVN yet, they're only in the build I posted. - Gamester17 - 2009-07-07 ashlar Wrote:I posted this to the Wiki. Can you please also look into updating the advancedsettings.xml article as well if needed? http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=advancedsettings.xml Thanks! - THX-UltraII - 2009-07-07 moby-uk, I ve been away for a while but Im back Is the XBMC_for_Windows-9.04.1-repack2.exe from this site https://sourceforge.net/projects/xbmc/files/ working with external player support? And are there any changes or do I still have to make a custom advancedsettings.xml in order to make it work? thxz m8! - ashlar - 2009-07-07 Gamester17 Wrote:Great! - moby-uk - 2009-07-08 ashlar Wrote:If I'm not mistaken, the external player setting has been removed from advancedsettings.xml. It has from SVN, but it is obviously in babylon - dyt72 - 2009-07-08 "<forceontop/> could be soon removed, its purpose is to remove the XBMC window's ONTOP attribute when the external-player is playing and put it back afterwards; this, in theory isn't needed now as XBMC should do this for itself when it loses focus. " no working for me, with or without <forceontop/>, xbmc remains on top alt+tab doesn't work neither, with windows ultimate 64bits and last xbmc svn. I need to use ctrl+alt+sup two time - moby-uk - 2009-07-08 ashlar Wrote:Check here http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_use_an_external_player no, no, no, no, no The question was about XBMC_for_Windows-9.04.1-repack2.exe, this is babylon and the externalplayer is configured in advancedsettings.xml This is exactly the kind of confusion I was hoping to avoid by maintaining backward-compatibility with the advancedsettings.xml configuration. - moby-uk - 2009-07-08 dyt72 Wrote:"<forceontop/> could be soon removed, its purpose is to remove the XBMC window's ONTOP attribute when the external-player is playing and put it back afterwards; this, in theory isn't needed now as XBMC should do this for itself when it loses focus. " I know, that was actually a note from me to ashlar, I wasn't intending for him to put it in the wiki I am working on it, in the short bits of spare time I get. The problem is trying to minimize XBMCs heavy CPU-usage whilst the externalplayer is active whilst dealing with what, for a product called "Windows", is in my opinion rubbish window management. I'm also trying to deal with 3 different versions of windows and complications that had to be introduced to workaround Intel's poor VSYNC implementation. - ashlar - 2009-07-08 moby-uk Wrote:I know, that was actually a note from me to ashlar, I wasn't intending for him to put it in the wikiI edited it now. But I thought about keeping it that way to cater for the fact that SVN gets updated constantly. And the wiki far less often. Especially during the summer, where I, for instance, I'm going to be on vacation. - ashlar - 2009-07-08 moby-uk Wrote:It has from SVN, but it is obviously in babylonRight... so the wiki ought to be updated as an interim solution. I'll see what I can do. - ashlar - 2009-07-08 Ok, I updated the wiki. I took Jester's original post as reference (mainly copied and pasted, to be honest). I'm not sure if the behaviour is described is consistent with what's in Babylon. If there are corrections to be made, let me know. I also put a reference to externalplayer in the advancedsettings.xml Wiki entry. I suppose much could be done to make it more cross-platform relevant. I have only Windows experience, so it might be lacking in that regard. - THX-UltraII - 2009-07-09 moby-uk, I ve been away for a while but Im back Is the XBMC_for_Windows-9.04.1-repack2.exe from this site https://sourceforge.net/projects/xbmc/files/ working with external player support? After searching this forum and following this link all is back to normal. IMHO this information must go into the first post. http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_use_an_external_player |
