XBMC Install Issue (8.10 Atlantis - Windows Vista 64) - DEFAZKEN - 2009-02-10

Hi Guys,

Did a quick scan of post. Apologize if this subject has already been addressed.

I downloaded XBMC (8.10) (Windows Vista 64 Ultimate). Install from the downloads folder.

When I go to start XBMC I get a error message; "This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found."

Has anyone seen this and have an idea what could cause and solution?

I have a couple of thoughts but don't want to "poison the well".

Thanks in advance.

(Sorry that was a typo. The build I'm using is 8.10) Thanks for pointing that out.

Why not download 8.10 or an even newer svn build, many of the newer svn builds include the .dll file, not sure about the official 8.10 release.

I found this article here which describes the missing DLL and what to do with it when it's obtained:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326922

From what it looks like googling around it's related to .NET. Try installed .NET Framework.

Thanks for the direction. I'll give it a shot.

Just want to post the confirmation. Downloading MSVCR71.dll into the XBMC application folder fixed the problem.

Thanks again.
